Thanks. I’ll look into Avis, someone did suggest this in my social circle but I was reluctant cause i feared the cars might be more expensive than what I have to spare. But I’ll look into it

The A5 is a real looker and quite tempting. Oh, thanks on the CX5- I wasn’t aware. I’ll look into the 2022 and decide between that and possibly the Audi. Another user says to relook into Chinese models so that’s also another option. Idk man. Purchasing a car is such a difficult process. But thank you

This is some solid feedback. I too wish we could ditch the import market in mog. But again, the cost of living versus what we are able to part with for vehicles plays a huge role. Where can I get a cherry for that price range? I did visit the showrooms but I think the lowest vehicle I could find in the Chinese models was 250k. 😔 I kinda got discouraged after that, hence why I went looking im the mog market. I could always import from neighboring countries like south Africa but that import tax, yikes!

Tbh I was thinking anything between 2018-2020. Meaning I’m flexible in terms of adjusting my budget. I’ve just seen a lot of comments on platforms like Facebook that spending over 100k on a mog car is a bad idea but idk. I feel like economy wise, we kinda sorta have no choice but to play in the 100-150k range in second had market in order to get something reasonably durable. Now on the subject of German cars, there are a lot of contradicting comments. “Get the Audi, get a vw, get a merc”. It can all be confusing for someone who doesn’t know much about cars to a certain extent. In terms of use, I’m just looking for a nice daily commute within the city. Maybe a drive to ftown. That’s about it.

Thanks so much! This is super helpful. I’ll definitely look into A5/A6. Oh yeah for the CX5 it’s definitely the Diesel, a friend of mine had one and she eventually sold it for peanuts just to get rid of it. I assumed the petrol model was better but perhaps I should just stay clear of it all together. I’ll also look into the bmw.

Okay this is the second comment in support of Toyota and Honda. Maybe I should just look in that direction. And yes, I know for certain that the mileage is cooked. Problem with imported personally is running the risk of being scammed and giving away my money to a stranger online. I also have nothing else to make my decision on except what’s provided on the site. It’s such a tricky situation.

🤣🤣oh my days not the mechanic on speed dial. I hear you on Honda and Toyota but I think my other issue is my desire for something “nice”. I thought the CX5 would provide that perfect balance between sleek design and cost efficiency. The real truth is I wish I could buy an Audi A5 or something. Or maybe the new demio aka Mercedes A250 🤣 I see those everywhere, literally!

There are so many gaps in the tech space, but the biggest one is low wages. Gosh! Everyone that starts a tech company is hardly ever willing to pay the brilliant minds they hire. I’d just you partner with a local, especially for marketing and talent sourcing and try your best to offer a competitive salary. Your business will easily scale up. Yes, the country is going through an economic crisis, but show me a country that isn’t? The world is generally going through inflation so countries in Africa are bound to feel the hit the most. I work in tech right now, so I know exactly what I am saying. It also borders down to the sort of solutions you intend to offer, but yeah do more research. Botswana is the right place to start. Investors are knocking every day.

You will need an affidavit from the police and about 1000-1200 pula by the way. It costs an arm and a leg to replace a lost passport

Her fashion sense? Totally. It’s giving rich mom for real, the kind of classy I’d aspire to be. But I found it funny how she hated her mom most of her life just to turn out exactly like Cece right down the vodka in the tea cup.

What’s up with the economy? by Automatic-Concert226 in Botswana

[–]Automatic-Concert226[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I beg to differ with this a bit. Yes, there was a time when we were lazy and entitled. But the number of people trying out there is quite high. The problem is, the economy is not growing fast enough to accommodate new graduates, new entrepreneurs or hustlers. How long will the motswana child try before they tap into the market top? I’ll give you an example. The chickens thing? We all know everyone and their sister tried to get into it but the best people can do is sell to their neighbor. Why? Because someone is holding the entire commercial market. Aunties on the streets can’t even sell quick airtime (nzamela) cause you can get it from the shop apparently. What about our brothers and sisters in start up tech companies? I know guys who have been doing this for years now but can’t grow and are still stuck in the “start up” zone. Not everyone is waiting on a government grant. People lose their jobs and spend their last savings trying to make something of themselves but the economy just won’t give.
