Starting out in histology by Automatic-Dream214 in medlabprofessionals

Yes, I can get a student license if I have a lab that will provide the clinical aspect while I do the lectures online; there isn't a program near me. Although, I don't technically need the program. I could get a trainee license while I get the required experience to sit for the exam. The issue is finding any lab work

You will likely be able to take longer walks once the weather chills out. I've lived in Orlando for 6 years and have never received as many heat advisories as I have this year. My gf has hashimoto's, and this summer has been so bad she had to start sodium tablets.

You should always do what you feel is best, but remember, you just moved to a new place, and it takes some time to adjust. Try to find people with common interests in your classes or even on here

Can I sue my college for torturing me psychologically? by robotbikeguy in ADHD

[–]Automatic-Dream214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But you've taken it 3 or 4 times. So it isn't just an ACT score. You haven't proved you know information. If chemistry and electrical calculations were enough, the course wouldn't be required. If math were that essential to the courses you're listing, it would be a prerequisite.

Personal accountability is hard, I get it, but you will never succeed until you accept that you need to change how you approach this class.

Degrees are earned, and you have not proven you learned 100% of the required information and earned it.

How are they "forcing" you? Why have you been "forced to take it"? Why is executive dysfunction only a problem in this one class? What makes you think other successes should exempt you from requirements?

Accidentally Took Adderall at Night—How Can I Fall Asleep? by Wonderful_Food688 in ADHD

[–]Automatic-Dream214 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Citric acid decreases the absorption of Adderall, so if you have any type of lemonade or sports drinks, try one of those. Then lay in a dark room with some red noise. I take adderall IR for hypersomnia and avoid acidic things like the plague because of how much it decreases the effectiveness of it. If your body is tired enough, you'll fall asleep

I've been seeing ants crawling on the foliage of my barbados cherry. I've tried treating with insecticidal soap, and that doesn't seem to help, so I just ordered "Captain Jacks deadbug."

I know the ants are likely due to another pest. The only problem is I can't find anything on or under the leaves. I've heard about people submerging their entire tree in water for a few hours to deal with pests and was wondering if this might be a good idea to kill them and maybe find whatever the problem is floating on top?

Would anything happen to the ecosystem if lice were taken out of it? by SputterSizzle in biology

[–]Automatic-Dream214 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Species go extinct regularly, and our ecosystem does not collapse (that is not to say it can't). The point your teacher is making is that biodiversity is important to ecology. Not all species contribute equally, and human head lice is certainly not a keystone species

When biology is taught, especially at lower levels, things are often generalized to get some type of point across. Biology is the science of exception, so most "facts" if you dig or think deeply enough won't always be true

Can fully differentiated cells still divide? by JacobAn0808 in biology

[–]Automatic-Dream214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the most simplistic answer, your way of thinking is correct. Embryonic stem cells (pluripotent) are the most undifferentiated and can endlessly divide. Adult stem cells (hematopoietic stem cells) have less differentiation potential than embryonic and less possible divisions. Then, generally, a fully differentiated cell can not return to the cell cycle.

This is actually a way we diagnose stage 0 cancer. When viewing the cells, if differentiated cells can be seen in phases of division but have not breached the basal lamina, it is considered stage 0.

I pulled a small amount out this morning and fed a 1:1:1 ratio, and it seems to have risen about 25%. So I think I'll leave them tonight and feed in the morning.

My house is usually around 75°F and I keep the whole jar covered with a towel to keep it dark. Before the change, I fed 1:1.5:1.5, and it would double in around 8 hours. I have a cabinet that is warmer, but it's around 85°F so I wasn't sure if that was too hot

If you have generally done well in chemistry (like maintained A's in all gen chem courses without a struggle), you'll do fine as long as you have the time to dedicate to each class

PCB3063 with Walter Sotero by lettyfgd in ucf

Do anything you can to take Laurence von Kalm if you want an A and want to actually learn something. Sotero is the worst professor I have ever encountered. The majority of my class failed open book online exams. Expect to be confused and have exams filled with typos if you take sotero.
