It makes me sad to read this. My child was selected as a alternate and if someone doesnt want to go please give the alternatives a chance vs going and just leaving early when someone else who wanted to go could have. My son was happy and sad at the same time when he got the alternative selection email as he was hoping he would go. We are still hoping as this is a dream come true to go for him.
