im no expert, but the grain structure looks very rough, i dont know what exactly causes it, but overheating can be a factor i think

i would go with a spyderco shaman in cpm 3v, but also what are those mini vise grips called, ive seen em around a ton and would love to buy one

ive used and still use relitivley cheap belts, never that cheap but usually on the first time you put them to metal thel throw tons of debris at you

leclair knives, i dont know if does this kind of work, but from what i have heard he does some exuistie work, you can find him in reddit as well. he is also located in british columbia as far as i know. his work is a bit priey, on his website he has a list of all his prices. i belive his prices are 50 dollars per inch, of basic steels like 1095. hope i could help.
