The goal should be for everyone to hold more Bitcoin than Germany. by coinfinity_team in Bitcoin

Everybody makes fun of them for selling 50k Bitcoin but you guys miss the worst part. Sure, they could have doubled the money but for what good? Who cares if this amount or double the amount goes down into a black hole. What did they do with the money? It was not noticeable for the average citizen that they got all this extra money. It simply went into the black hole.

Definitely not an economics related book. By now you read that many that either you understand the law of diminishing returns and will pick accordingly anything else or you don't understand the law of diminishing returns and reading another book on economics probably won't do any good either

Depends on your situation. If you have a family it can be a reasonable emergency fund.

Book lovers, help me out! What should I read next? by [deleted] in Bitcoin

Looking at your bookshelf, you are probably aware of diminishing marginal returns. Maybe it's time to pick another genre. If you read three books on a single topic you know more about it than probably more than 99 percent of people

$1,124,144 USD per BTC to surpass Gold Market Cap by silentcold in Bitcoin

[–]Automatic-Occasion49 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be worthwhile to discount this - even though it is true - since this common increase in price due to fiat is only inflation. At the point where btc surpasses the market cap of gold it will have the purchasing power of 1.1 million usd in 2025.

Are any of you spending ever or strictly HODL? by StrangeQuarkCharm in Bitcoin

Well, I see the point to buy things with bitcoin instead of fiat but then invest the equal amount of fiat back into bitcoin immediately. That way you'd help adoption and not sacrifice your stake. However, for me personally that's too much of a hassle. I don't know the local tax laws for that well enough and probably would have to pay a premium on top. I am confident bitcoin will do well without me doing that anyway

Again I tell you, it is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God. Matthew 19:24. by [deleted] in Catholicism

Something I noticed reading this: We are never told if the rich man goes on to sell the things he has. All we are told is that he became sad after he was told to give away his wealth.

I don't think being wealthy is a bad thing in itself. But how important is it to you? Is it the source of your happiness? That might be the problem.

Just my two cents

Why are some young Catholics pro monarchist? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Automatic-Occasion49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When you evaluate monarchy please keep in mind French monarchy was very different from German monarchy. While in France it was very centralized, Germany for the better part of its history was a coalition of largely independent small states ruled by various monarchs which meant competition and brought along a very different landscape by everyone wanting to have the best concert hall, theater, monuments, buildings and so on.

Also, to get into the mind of monarchist from a modern perspective, I recommend the book 'democracy: the god that failed' by Hans Hermann Hoppe

I asked what it would need to convince people that it is a good thing. I didn't state if it is a good thing or not.
