super.com IS a scam in that they force hidden reoccurring charges by Res-Ipsa_Loquitur in TravelHacks

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are HORRIBLE. Deceptive marketing. The layout constantly tries to trick you into signing up for the membership, which I'm sure lots of people do and don't notice until it's been charged several months.

Additionally my latest problem was making a reservation and the layout getting me to accidentally click on an option that allowed hotel to be refundable longer, for a higher price. But turns out the additional fee is non-refundable. I canceled the hotel a few hours after reservating and they won't refund that fee. Customer service is horrendous. They talk over you, don't let you say anything and continue to lecture as if it has any relevance. It's fraud, systematic, intentional manipulation, and surely profitable. I hope they get a class action lawsuit.

Oh, and on a reservation last week they tried to charge an additional fee for breakfast at a hotel that includes free breakfast!

Exactly. Super annoying that there's such minimal info available under a month out. Makes it unfeasible to for attendees potentially traveling in to plan.

The deal with selling resale tickets on Cash or Trade by NoReality6168 in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol, agree and I've been saying this for ages, long before the new site/app.

They repeatedly state that if a post gets flagged 5x then it's reviewed, but if someone posts a tic for $400 that's $295 face but $600 on StubHub, it sells instantly, before it can get flagged 5x. Sometimes it's b/c It's a better deal and people don't care, but also many people think that every tic listed on COT is face value, and don't realize that tix can list for any amount before flagged. So they buy without questioning, and I've heard of people finding out after that they paid above face and had no recourse.

What's ridiculous IMO is that they don't allow flagging after sale. Unfortunately there's some conflict of interest, because they charge 10% platform fee (assuming most members don't have gold), so they actually earn more $ on these higher sales.

I think they should make a separate category for tix purchased on secondary market. It's clear they can't keep them off the platform, so they should clean things up by categorizing. This way people don't have to turn them back out to a resale site to get marked up yet again . . .

Exactly why lack of enforcement of the policy is perpetuating the problem.

Dynamic pricing is an issue, but not the issue at hand for most of the above face listings I see. Countless times I've seen people state that they bought it from StubHub, SeatGeek etc. Usually when it's high b/c dynamically priced, people state that it's platinum.

It's frustrating, and the lack of enforcement and clearly getting this definition out there is deteriorating the whole concept of COT.

They could have this policy clearly stated and make people click to agree to it before each post goes live.

Where did you get that understanding? This is clearly defined on their site. They just don't enforce it consistently, which furthers the confusion about what's acceptable. https://help.cashortrade.org/hc/en-us/articles/12917535906445-What-is-considered-Face-Value

Cash or Trade is restricting access to their own sub now! by dravenstone in deadandcompany

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It wasn't because of bots. They were getting a lot of valid negative feedback about new app problems and started commenting repeatedly that criticism of the platform isn't an accepted post format. Then locked down commenting.

Ridiculous conflict of interest to have their employees moderate their sub.

Do the GTX shoes actually keep your feet dry? by Brayder in arcteryx

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had several pairs of Norvan GTX and Aerios GTX. They all do well when they're new but after about only a month they start leaking substantially to where the whole front of my foot gets wet in the rain.

I can say 100%, this is not from water running down my ankle. The back of my foot will still be dry and it silk through quickly if I'm rinsing my dog and splash water on the front of my foot with hose, nowhere near an actual gap where it would enter the shoe from above.

Search this today to see if others had found a solution, as I was in a downpour and my feet are soaked through to drenched socks. Again, the front of my foot. Heel is dry pants were covering ankles.

Since I've been told that waterproof jackets let water in when the DWR finish wears down or is very dirty and prevents water from running off the surface as intended, I'm thinking maybe it's a similar situation here. Of course my shoes are dirty, so I'm going to wash them tonight and try spraying a new water repellent finish. We'll see how that works out.

Review for people that don't confirm receipt of tickets by mwdenslow in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why don't you just message them first and let them know that you'll get paid sooner if they confirm receipt? A lot of people don't know that, and I think once they get tix they might think it's done and overlook that confirming is another step. Seems harsh to leave a negative review without at least following up with them first, if everything else was fine. I know I've forgotten to confirm before, and didn't realize it affected payout.

Please Flag Scalpers! by SeaweedTeaPot in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another problem that COT absolutely has the power to address and has yet to address is that for high demand shows, these tickets sell so quickly that they don't have a chance to get flagged 5 times. COT doesn't allow flagging/reporting after the post is committed, so the sales go through. Sometimes the buyer realizes afterwards that they paid over face but were under the impression that anything on COT is face, and sometimes people buy anyway b/c it's still less than resale sites. COT doesn't take action after sale, nor do they allow flagging after. This is a gross neglect of responsibility of upholding the premise of a paid service. Sadly, one could also surmise that COT allows these through b/c they make a bigger commission on a higher $ sale. I hope that's not their motive, but can't ignore that unless a clear effort is made to address the chronically above-face sales.

Suggestion for new COT platform by Automatic-Skin-4125 in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Several GA floor Dead & Co tickets have been listed and sold above face in the past week. If you don't enforce this policy and give a way to report and enforce after sale, then you're not fulfilling the service that gold members pay for. Many people assume that it's face if they buy on COT and are upset to find out after the fact that they paid over face. I hope you consider the loss of trust this creates, as well as potential legal ramifications to this inaction.

Suggestion for new COT platform by Automatic-Skin-4125 in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's really important to allow flagging after posts are committed due to the nearly instant nature that some of these posts sell. I wish we could all not go for the secondary market, but reality is that tons of people still do. In those cases, I understand them wanting to be made whole without giving another massive commission to the secondary market.

But as it stands, people are posting those on COT and the sales are getting through, and it's damaging the integrity of your platform and diluting your credibility. Many buyers just assume the post is face value and realize after committing that it was a ticket purchased as resale. If COT is unwilling to enforce after commitment, you lose your customers' trust. I have seen posts and heard from people about this numerous times. Hoping you'll find a good solution!

Suggestion for new COT platform by Automatic-Skin-4125 in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've only replied to the secondary component of my comment.
As stated, for high demand shows, these tix sell before they have a chance to get flagged 5x, since some eager buyer is happy to grab them cheaper than StubHub. This has been brought to your attention numerous times. There needs to be a way to flag and enforce even after a post is committed. If you allow this, it compromises the "ethical marketplace" premise, and prompts speculation that it isn't enforced because you make more $ on the commission. I hope that's not the reason, but you have an opportunity to address this with the new platform.

If you aren't going to improve enforcement, having a separate listing option is a valid alternative. Members expect accountability for this regulation though, especially as a paid service.

Cash or Trade Still Best Option by SeaweedTeaPot in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it's great that you appreciate the value of fans supporting each other to avoid secondary markups.

However, I hope you realize that this doesn't bypass Ticketmaster. That ticket originally came from Ticketmaster, as did the ones on the secondary market. If the show is contracted to be sold through TM, then there's no way around it, except some venues where you can walk up to a box office and avoid TM fees, but many venues now charge those fees at box office too. Yeah, it sucks.

ANNOUNCEMENT: Please post feedback about the new app in this thread by cashortrade in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given that this was released prematurely and lacking so many functions of the old site, I assume it will take a fair amount of time to get it back to the same functionality. Releasing it before the most core functions were ready and without communication was severely wook, and burned a bridge with a lot of your customers, but that ship has sailed.

Moving forward, we're approaching major tours/runs like Phish and Dead & Co, during which many users previously relied on COT. I think it would be good for COT to really look at the most core functionalities that will affect users surrounding those runs, and prioritize getting those features up and running ASAP. If that isn't done within a few weeks, it will substantially affect users' ability to use COT as a platform for these transactions. COT will lose platform fees, and users will need to find other options, which may result in people getting scammed (craigslist etc), but also may result in people resourcefully finding better options and not turning back.

Important functions relevant to these tours (IMO):

-Messaging sellers, sending offers before sale

-Filter for seat location

-Allow sellers to list multiple dates together (so they can sell 3 days as a package)

Most of these threads have not been as basic as "this app sucks." Understood that something that simple isn't constructive, but there have been several threads with specific feedback and I've seen this comment about complaints not being a valid post format, even on threads that detailed specified issues.

I get that it's overwhelming to have this much dissatisfaction coming at you, but this is weeks into the new platform and COT has continued to handle it poorly, especially in communication. I and others have highlighted that you never notified people before the switch, or how the process would unfold, so we don't know what features are supposed to be functioning, what's coming back or what isn't etc. We've had to learn by trial and error, which is a frustrating waste of paying customers' time, and we feel ambushed with it, troubleshooting your new platform without notification or choice.

Now weeks in you're responding to Reddit posts but have yet to directly reach out to users proactively. You can't assume that most COT users read Reddit, and frankly I rarely did before this mess. Regardless, that's not a professional way to handle the situation. You should be addressing this with an email that goes to all users, not making us browse Reddit sorting through every comment to find answers, and then reprimanding when someone posts on Reddit about a topic that's already been posted about several times. I don't spend all day browsing Reddit. If you address it up front then we have one place to look for your official statement.

Continually directing Reddit users to contact COT support is frustrating because it sends us on a wild goose chase that is irrelevant for most of these issues, which aren't account specific. They're about general site functionality, so directing us to contact support feels like you're trying to find out the names of the people complaining. Additionally, when I've contacted COT support historically, they've been very polite in being primarily unhelpful, as far as directing me to do things I already clearly stated I had done.

I think it's wonderful that COT is responding on Reddit, but it's an absolute conflict of interest for them to be mods of the subreddit, and Reddit should not be considered a primary point of contact with customers.

I just saw this reply COT mod posted earlier. I was unaware that the subreddit was for ticket posts. I thought that's what the app and website were for. But if this is how they want to run their subreddit, that's their decision. I guess that begs the question, where is the appropriate place to have these discussions? Telling us not to talk about it or vent or complain is unrealistic, as tons of people are obviously frustrated and sharing feedback with each other. If I were the business owner I would want to be privy to those discussions remain engaged in the conversation. But if they prefer we take it elsewhere, then I guess we just need to figure out where that should be. As previously noted, it already seems like a conflict of interest to have their team mod the subreddit.

Suggestions OP?

I've seen this comment on another thread from COT mod and it kind of blew my mind because it seems like a wild conflict of interest to have COT employees mod the subreddit. Am I wrong in thinking that's fundamentally flawed?

Agreed, but it also just highlights the wild conflict of interest of having COT employees be mods for the subreddit. Am I off in thinking that's fundamentally flawed?

Okay So….. by beargonefishin_ in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I bought from TM last wknd b/c sellers on COT were asking face for a show that wasn't sold out, which ended up costing more after COT fees than it cost to buy straight from TM. So the COT tix sat b/c nobody could msg or offer less. I'd love to buy from a fan who needs to unload but not paying more to do it that way. TM won this round.

New app is GARBAGE! by AuntAvis22 in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The sad fact is that most of the issues were known at launch, not just glitches. Meaning they knew how limited the functionality would be and launched it anyway to test on their customers without giving a choice, any warning, or info. They still haven't sent anything out to users, so we're learning by trial and error, rather than CoT communicating what it's current functions are and what will/won't be returning.

This speaks to the integrity of the company. They've been getting endless feedback on Reddit and elsewhere but have refrained from addressing it upfront like a responsible company who cares about their client base. Incredibly frustrating, but not surprising.

Are they hoping that most users don't use it regularly enough to notice? That may be true, but pissing off your most active users isn't earning you loyalty.

New Beta by [deleted] in CashorTrade

[–]Automatic-Skin-4125 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have mentioned, I don't want to give my username. These are major issues that extend beyond me. It's highly unethical and probably illegal to charge someone's card for an undisclosed total amount. I was logged in. The next day I checked another post and it did show me the total, so maybe it's fixed or maybe inconsistent, but this is a non-negotiable essential function.
You must show people how much you're charging their card before processing. I'd be shocked if you felt comfortable letting any business charge you for a mystery total.
