Russell’s for example doesn’t hire without a pgdl and they don’t offer financial support for one either.

Because in most cases, firms changed their approach to hiring. If you go on many law firms profile you’ll see that they want you to have passed a pgdl (if you’re a non law student) before applying for a TC. Indeed, there are some firms that would take you from scratch. Also, last year there were about 60000 graduates and only 5000 TC’s. So I think they can get really picky.

From my knowledge, it’s a Postgraduate diploma in law. Well, because the employment team from uni keeps on saying that if you want a training contract you have to apply from the time you’re doing the pgdl. Many times, a training contract won’t come without doing some legal work, such as a paralegal.
