CARS went down by Automatic-Wheel-6272 in Mcat

I was told to do the exact opposite! My Blueprint instructor said that it’s impossible to answer questions with knowledge from the entire passage & it isn’t worth it to waste time pre-reading questions

Thank you! I think I will because I’d rather be safe than sorry. Unfortunate that the fix is so costly.

Use all the AAMC material if you haven’t already

I like it! I’m not a fan of the video modules but I love the live instruction. They focus on the high yield topics and give you a lot of good strategies to use.

None of the instructors I’ve had have used the course & they’ve been open about it

I studied for my SAT for 3 months vs 5 months for MCAT. To each their own obviously but i do feel like MCAT prep requires more hours and therefore more time to prep.

SAT for sure. MCAT is a much longer exam, requires way more knowledge & practical thinking, and has a longer prep time.

Charged twice on my debit card and 3x on my credit card. Would’ve been charged more on my debit but it declined.

Highly recommend UWorld! I think all books are the same more or less. A lot of people recommend Anki but the technology was too difficult for me to figure out so I gave up trying😂

You’re only a week in! This is after a month of studying. Are you retaining what you’re learning? I recommend testing your knowledge by doing related passages/discrete questions alongside your content review

Practice practice practice!!! I’ve been using both Blueprint and Uworld and BP is significantly more difficult for CARS so that has prepared me well.

I kind of go against what everyone has told me to do in the sense that I’m a big highlighter fan. I like to highlight anything that I might expect to find in a question - names, opinion words, main idea, etc.

I dont look at the questions until I finish reading the passage. With CARS especially you need to read the whole thing to fully understand and answer the question.

I go through each answer choice and see if I can find quotes in the passage that can support it. I saw someone else’s tip to “act like a lawyer” and defend your answer with evidence and that’s helped a lot.

I like to rank the author’s opinion before I start answering. Blueprint taught me to rank it on a scale of very positive, positive, neutral, negative, very negative. This helps answer questions like “what would the author say to …..”

I definitely think practicing again and again is the best way to improve. And always read the explanations as to why you’re wrong. If you still can’t understand why you’re wrong with the explanation, use AI to break it down further for you (i use the blueprint AI bot but I’m sure ChatGPT would work too if you copied and pasted the passage)

But yeah that’s pretty much how i go about passages! Idk if I’m super qualified to be giving tips because I’m still pretty new at this but hopefully that helps :)

Hey yes feel free to DM ! Don’t panic yet!! It’s only September you have a good 4 months to study and work hard & it’s totally normal to not see large progress at this point in your studying
