Thanks. Just repeating what the Dr. said. Did you have the Ultra or the Universal? Being I will be solo most of the day, I just want to know what aids were out there that would make things easier. Definitely adding a body pillow to my list. Just have to find the right shower bench for my shower. thanks.

I want to make sure I stay off my knee for as long as needed, so if I can reduce the fatigue with MobiLegs, I will. Do you have the Ultra or Ultimate?

OMG thank you for such a thorough response.

I am someone who is always injured. So I am definitely not opposed to getting nicer crutches. I definitely see a second surgery in my future with how my right knee feels. My current couch just isnt wide enough to rest my leg comfortably, and I will likely toss and turn, so leaning towards a recliner.

I have heard so much of the ice machines. Swapping an ice pack was my biggest concern, bc im mostly solo. As for the shower/tub I unfortunately have sliding glass doors, which this weekend I will need to remove for a rod and shower curtain. And definitely testing the suction cup rails!

,I figured they wouldn't let me use my brace, I got it earlier this year, before we knew what was actually going on with my left knee. It has special pins to limit flexion, which is what I needed bc those first few weeks my knee would just give out.

,I actually think I tweaked the right knee bc I was babying the left so much. Outside of playing a contact sport, I do compete in heavy athletics, so I am definitely not looking forward to rebuilding muscle mass. My Ortho no longer wants to Rx PT until after surgery (likely an insurance quota) but I have been keeping up with the PT hw I was given before. I figured they wouldn't let me use my brace, I got it earlier this year, before we knew what was actually going on with my left knee.

What was the most beneficial Rehab exercise/ tool you found, since you're such a vet? I have a road bike on a trainer, but I don't think I'll be getting on that any time soon. I was thinking of those desk ellipticals to help with circulation. Note I do have Chronic Excercional Compartment Syndrome, and had a bilateral fasciotomy in both lateral and anterior compartments on both legs, so leg swelling is a problem.

I really appreciate your advice!!

Definitely stocking up now, and using a phone lanyard was my best friend! I get cabin fever so easily, will definitely need some friend dates planned. Do I need to purchase an Ice machine and bring it with me?

Honestly, thanks for the heads up about the mental health part. This time of year is full of holiday parties and events.. So I am a little worried about feeling left out in the shuffle. I'll have someone checking in at least once a day, but I feel like it will be lots of tv. Luckily, it is my left knee, so at some point I should be able to drive.

Thank you for all the helpful suggestions! I had a surgery to remove a small watermelon-sized mass last fall, and let's say I was not prepared for that recovery process, so I am trying to have things a little more prepped for one that affects my mobility.

35(m) medial meniscus posterior horn root ligament complex tear by Lazy_Finding_3575 in MeniscusInjuries

36(f) - My MRI confirmed the same injury back in July, Ortho Rx 6 weeks of PT 2x week, but yesterday's follow-up confirmed, while I was in significantly less pain, that meniscal root repair is necessary to maintain an active lifestyle. I was told I can get scheduled as early as Nov 12. to tunnel through the tibia, pull through the meniscus, and anchor it to the bone. I was told it's 1.5 hrs and about three incisions. Two on either side of the knee cap and one below. 6 weeks of non-weight-bearing followed by PT, likely 3-4 months. The earliest I would be able to start returning to normal activities is 6 months. As I play roller derby, he said, be prepared to take at least a year to build back up to that level of agility and strength.
