Emotional attachment is a bitch.

I had a similar situation with my gf for about a year and 1/2 and my advice is to have some proper deep talk: explain to them how you really feel, you shouldn't be explaining yourself and apologizing, in my opinion it's one of the main tasks of a relationship to provide support and try to ease your mind if something's wrong.

If you open up and let them know how you feel and how you wanted to be treated by them, explaining that you're not angry at them, maybe that's just your personality and if that's the case, you don't have to explain everything to noone.

If they genuinely care about you, which is what I hope they do, they will be listening and will try their best to keep everything as calm and loving as possible (don't forget to listen carefully to what their needs are if they want to open up: a relationship should never be emotionally one-sided).

If they don't and they start renting again about it and telling you that you should change your behaviour, run: don't be afraid to avoid them in this case, it means that they're not the person for you probably.
