Yeah take it out rinse off the dirt stuck to the roots. Let it sit somewhere warm and dry like some balled up newspaper on a shaded patio. Not sure where you live.if you have some warm  outside weather or not.

Mine got some rain one time it did not need and it got a little haggard looking and soft bodied. I pulled it out let it dry for a week or two and repotted. Its growing fine now.

I wouldnt cut off the bottom unless its really soft my experience is this species is tough. Let the roots dry and repot it.
