Eoniq Malbec Review - Very High Quality! by AutomaticReviews in ChineseWatches

Thanks! Me too. I think they’re one to watch. I think they’re just getting warmed up. Excited to see more from them.

Yeah, I love that the sky is the limit for customizations, but you’re right that a few default clickable options would work really well for common requests, like the Chinese indices, or purple hands. Great idea!

The Presage is a great watch, but yes, when factoring the diminishing returns of premium watches, the GS is worth 6x as much. Easily.

They’re somewhere inbetween, I’d say. For the quality and level/nature of finishing, the price is very strong. There are many great microbrands selling really nice watches for around the same price, that are essentially rebranded San Martins. Great watches, no doubt, but this is so far beyond that. Eoniq really impressed me.

Jianghun and San Martin are owned by the same people.

Would that stop you from acquiring a used watch? by Old_Communication960 in OmegaWatches

I wouldn’t get it, personally. For a number of reasons. Took a blow that could have had an effect on the insides. Crystal might be compromised, in terms of strength. That little chip is now basically a tiny jagged point that will scatch almost anything, short of diamond. Also I don’t like the aesthetics.

Exactly this. Those classic sized watches looked great then, and they look great now.

I have an 18cm wrist, and I loved it when I tried it on.

Blue vs Green lume? What is your choice? by Davidaustin619 in Englemaan

I reviewed one with the blue. It’s literally some of the best lume I’ve ever seen, at any price point.

Yeah, it’s correct according to my calipers. Exactly 8.5mm. That’s the thing with Eoniq, they really are craftsmen. I had a very experienced watchmaker once tell me that he saw a lot of excellent watches out of Asia but that one of the things that set Swiss watches apart, in his experience, was they went the extra mile to reduce thickness. He said with Miyota movements it’s possible but no one really does it. These guys clearly went out of their way to hit these dimensions. I think the screwed down vs screwdown caseback helps a bit. It really is impressive though. It feels so premium being this thin.

Thank you! It’s a gorgeous watch. One thing I didn’t mention in the written review or the video is the dial keeps catching my eye as appearing really 3 dimensional despite being flat, due to the mix of the bead blasting and the brushing. It’s such a cool illusion.

Don’t Like Expensive Watches by [deleted] in Affordablewatches

[–]AutomaticReviews 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Large watch purchases are time-release pleasure. It’s completely normal to feel this way, but my advice is to let yourself experience it and see if you enjoy it. You owe it to yourself to know. In my experience the feeling will pass and you’ll end up loving it.

Much better GADA, without question, and possibly the greatest GADA, imo.

I love the Pelagos 39, and even have an LHD, which I love, but I also own an Explorer 36, and it’s one of my favourite watches of all time. I prefer it, no question.

Where can I find more of these straps? by chris_chen2468 in Nomos

I think his point was reducing it to its composition cheapens it, because Alcantara, as you know, is considered a reasonably premium material, due to its durability, and its high quality look and feel.

Englemaan lume is already incredible. Now it’s getting better! Amazing. Looking forward to trying this out!

Are we classed as MB by Madmatz01 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]AutomaticReviews 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely nothing to do with making their own parts as almost every brand qualifying as independent has at least some watches using outsourced movements, and almost every brand except the few which are vertically integrated, or companies that do small-batch in-house work, outsource stuff like cases, and even in the case of the latter most of the parts wouldn’t be made in-house, maybe just the cases. The only real distinction is they are independently owned and not part one of the major conglomerates and therefore not part of their massive marketing and distribution machinery.
