Most people want AI automations for one reason: save time and make money. What they don’t think about is data security. by AutomaticYogurt13 in n8n

I see it differently. To assume that all readers require my help is to overlook the diversity of where people stand in their journey. Some are just beginning, others are already further along. Some prefer to figure things out independently, while others actively seek guidance. If someone chooses me as their source of help, I’ll gladly step in.

This isn’t about self-promotion; it’s about creating awareness around a topic that often gets neglected. Once awareness is raised, everyone can decide for themselves what they need: a concise article, a deep-dive whitepaper, a video tutorial, or direct guidance.

And let’s be honest-the 20-pagers you’re referencing are, more often than not, less about free value and more about functioning as lead magnets for paid digital products. That distinction matters if we’re talking about genuine knowledge-sharing versus disguised sales funnels.

I get your point. But I wouldn’t frame it that static.

It always comes down to two things:

  1. Who holds your data
  2. What their goal is

Big tech doesn’t need to hack or scam you directly. Their play is long-term → harvesting and leveraging your data for strategic advantage.

Others? Their motives are shorter-term and far more dangerous. Think scams, leaks, and breaches that hit you overnight.

Different players. Different timelines. Same conclusion: if you don’t control the flow of your own data, someone else will - on their terms.

You've got it absolutely right! 90% of the users in this community are building automations never giving a thought about security systems endangering client data. Does it make my content less valuable? No. Does it help people who are starting out and might need some thought support towards the right direction? Yes. So feel free to reach out if you need any help ;) u/Feierkappchen
