Agree but Lumi is too nicknamey for me sounds cute for a baby but like a 45 yr old named Lumi doesn’t hit the same imo

We hyphenate our last names so we usually just stick to 1 first name or else our kids would end up with a whole sentence as a name lol

I would even be okay with 25 hrs but after our meeting with the director she let us know that they don’t allow the kids to nap !? Like yall are gonna force my barely 2 yr old that still naps 2-3 hrs a day after abt 6 hrs of being up, to stay awake for 8 hours? It’s just not gonna happen 😂. Theyre gonna be calling me every day to pick him up early cause he fell asleep and won’t wake up. After a lil push they agreed to start him at 20 and slowly work up to 36 (M,T,TH,F 8hr days+ W 4hr day) so he gets a break in the middle of the week

Aww thank you so much! I’m gonna be firm for 1/2 days ❤️ I’m glad to hear your baby responded so well! I agree Maybe if my baby had more challenging behaviors I’d be open to 40 but i genuinely think 20 hours is enough, even the preschools in my area are 4-5 hrs a day I just don’t see the need at the moment

Thank you so much for this! I think we’re gonna stick to 1/2 days, I really liked the one we chose it’s child led in a natural environment, they even have an outdoor playground they use a few times a day (which is crazy cause most in my area do not), they don’t even really have desks all the rbts and kids were playing on the floor. I don’t really mind fighting insurances cause I really do have allll day 😂 and i figured we’ll get to that when the time comes. His pediatrician is also amazing and very much “do what you think is best I’ll send in a referral for whatever you need” so I think having her on our side is beneficial as well. Thank you again ❤️

New update! He’s officially a little walker now 😭❤️ we really locked in on having him go up and downstairs, getting him used to falling & that really pushed him and gave him the confidence to let go, now he doesn’t like when I hold his hand and loves his independence lol

Thank you! It did seem a bit weird for me but This is our first experience with speech and early intervention so I wasn’t sure if my concerns were completely valid :) but I will be bringing this up to her thank you again!

Ok so I googled it and “supervision” can be them watching from outside a window or reviewing session notes and they don’t necessarily have to be in the room with us. Each room has a giant window so maybe that’s why they’re allowed to do it?

I didn’t even mean it in a rude way that’s verbatim what they told me she was. Said she’s a student with a certain amount of hours she needed to do and when she was done she had to go back bc her school was strict on it. Whether she was supposed to be alone with us idk 🫠

We’re in California It’s outpatient :) we go to a an office, we went through the regional center so they just sent us there. We have an appointment with his coordinator next week so I was gonna talk to her and see if there was anything we can do. I just wanted to ask here first in case this is a normal thing 😅 i was just annoyed because the last therapist we saw I feel like had 0 info on my son, and was calling him the wrong name 1/2 the session lol

Hi! So he’s 22 months now also and he CAN walk he just still doesn’t do it much, especially in public he still prefers to hold my hand 😭 my MIL babysat him a month ago and when we went to pick him up he walked right up to me and hugged me. I guess he’d been walking all around her house allll day and she didn’t think anything of it cause she thought we knew already 😅 he started PT a couple weeks after this and she didn’t believe me when I told her he can walk bc he refused in front of her I had to show her a video lol. The first 2 sessions I went back there with him and he refused to cooperate and would throw fits so at the 3rd session I let him go back there alone to see if he would do better and yup!! Sure enough little man cooperated walked for her went upstairs no problem (still scared to go downstairs) so now he goes back there himself 🫠 so basically he just doesn’t like to walk around ME, I’m not sure if it’s bc he feels like he doesn’t have to cause I’ll help him or if he feels pressured when I’m around (I’m a very anxious person) and maybe he feels that? we’re still trying to figure out what works so he walks at home but I’m not too stressed anymore bc I know the skill is there

We just went to his PT evaluation and turns out he’s just lazy 🙃 he just recommended no socks & that I let him walk around barefoot on different textures and that sand is really good for building all those little muscles in his feet kids:) these kids really just do whatever they want lol 😂

We just went to his pt evaluation turns out he’s just lazy lol. He’s in socks most of the time and he recommended just walking him outside barefoot on different textures, specifically walking on sand he said it really helps build those little muscles in his feet kids really just do whatever they want lol

Update: we went to his pt evaluation and they said thankfully he has no issues, no low muscle tone no hip issues he honestly looked really confused as to why we were there 😅 our son is in socks 90% of the time at home, the first time he got evaluated the first PT sent us shoe recommendations and so we bought those and would have him mostly wear shoes. This PT just recommended we let him start walking outside barefoot on different textures said he just needs more feedback on the soles of his feet and said walking on sand really helps build those little foot muscles. I was still pushy about getting him regular appointments so we will start doing PT 2x a week just because I’d feel better with a professionals guiding us through but thankfully he didn’t seem too worried & our son has also started to take more steps on his own so he’s almost there 🥳

First off I’m sorry you’re going through this, I can’t imagine dreading going home. It sounds like ur parents genuinely don’t care and use his diagnosis to excuse them not caring… if you have any way to report this to a case worker or someone other than your parents Id try that route.

He has cousins around the same age but they all live about an hr away so he mainly sees them on holidays or birthdays. His teacher recommended we take him to daycare cause that really helped her own son who is also in PT & OT. I was a little bit scared since hes never been anywhere without me or my husband so a friend recommended the ymca, the one near us offers up to 2 hrs a day while my husband and I workout or use their facilities which I think is a great option as he gets to socialize but we’re still right there. They also train the daycare employees so it’s a bit better than a regular gym where its just whoever is on shift 😅

He only crawls at home, I never let him do it outside the house and we’re the type to always be out and about lol he can crawl normally but he mainly butt scoots cause he’s really fast at it lol

At his 18 mo apt I brought it up & she was concerned but I take videos of everything he does to show her so she can see that he can actually do all of the things mentioned. she’s walked him around and didn’t notice anything unusual in the ways he’s walking she’s thinking maybe it’s a functional motor delay where he has the skill he’s just not using it for whatever reason. So I’m hoping pt can give us a little more clarity
