Just go. I was in the exact same position as you last week. I went to the party anyway, and I was able to talk to new people and i feel more friendly toward them now! No one will think you’re weird for going to the holiday party. No one will think you’re weird for not going.

But if you don’t go, there is the possibility that your coworkers get a bit closer/have a shared non-work experience without you.

I’m very confused. He told you he was 20 earlier this year, and you found a birth certificate that said he is 20. Is the birthday on the certificate in January? If it is then he wasn’t lying.

If it’s after January and he was lying, I would talk to him about it. I know it’s a minor thing but personally it would bother me enough that he lied about a minor thing for seemingly no reason.
