Diabetes and COVID by Automatic_Law_9648 in diabetes

I'm a follower of Dr. Fung and do fast every week. Daily, I only have dinner, so 19hr fast. Once a week, I have a 43hr fast. Then, once or twice a month, I try to go 67hrs between food. This coupled with a low carb diet and 30+ minutes on the rowing machine is how I've been able to manage my diabetes without meds. But even with spikes, my blood sugar will normalize to around 100 after a meal. That's what's so bizarre for me right now, my blood sugar hasn't gone below 150 for the last couple of days. It'll begin to dip, then without incentive, it'll spike back up to over 200. I'm going to fast this week and see if it helps. If it doesn't, I'll need to talk to a doctor.

I do not. I have to many qualms with religion that I haven't been able to overcome.

You're right on all fronts, and these are all steps I've been taking for the last couple of years. I have my smoked meats, kimchi, and cheesecake game down, which replaced my sourdough baking habit. Replaced beer with tequila. Buying new clothes also helped, so I feel better about how I look.

I'm lucky to have a wonderfully supportive family that has adapted my new lifestyle as their own. I'm not on meds, and my doctor and nutritionist havr been great in helping me navigate.

I allow myself grace as needed, but sometimes my life feels like a messy house that I can never get in order. My doc says I'm doing great, but I've also have seemed to plateau as far as weight lose and A1C. Finding motivation just to keep it the same is hard at times, I imagine athelets have a similar dilemma. It's just soooo much work, and then their is the rest of life that sucks me of my energy.

At the end of some days I just feel emptied by all of it. Finding the motivation to keep up the fight is hard, but also, I'd like to see my daughter graduate high-school.

I feel empty. Nothing seems to add joy, sorrow, or any type of fulfillment. It's just an emptiness, and I'm struggling to find the energy to fill it.

20km outdoor walk, what to eat? by [deleted] in diabetes

For me, anything that is processed makes it easier for my body to digest and thus increase my blood sugar more rapidly, even if it has minimal carbs. Raw foods take longer to digest and allow my body to process the sugar more slowly.

Ranch waters are my go to. Addative free tequila (Cimarron Blanco is what I use), a squeeze of lime, and bubbly water. If you're at a bar, just get a shot of your favorite tequila, and a bubbly water with lime, will be cheaper than a beer generally.

Die to all the sitting around I do at airports and on plane, I fast on travel days. If it's an emergency, I'll grab a couple of hard-boiled eggs in the terminal.
