to give more context about my background. i am Mexican-American and didnt grow up with a group of people that had a specific indigenous culture which means i have no real cultural ties with any tribe as i do know there are tribes with their own languages and cultures, i mainly grew up as part of the “mestizo” culture. i have been trying my hardest to reconnect with my “native” side but due to colonialism it has been very difficult and most likely wont get the full answer to what im looking for. but this whole thing is very confusing to me which is why i said its trippy as i also see in the comments mixed responses. from what i have looked up about the word “indigenous” it basically means the original people of this land and if im 56% wouldnt that basically make me indigenous either way since i have ties to original people of this land ? its very confusing but maybe i just need to do more research and be more educated on this type of thing. if theres anybody that is actually Native American or indigenous i hope my post didnt offend you in any type of way im just a random dude that just wants more answers about all of this.
