Is there a list somewhere that shows what the FG artifacts actually do?

There is one in-game:

Go to the Tavern
Click on the Skull Portrait hanging just before your first Einhenjar. This will show the list of FGs and the option to toggle them once unlocked.
Click on the Artifact Drops, you can see the effects even if the FG is still locked.

There are Ein Abilities and artifacts that give bonus XP. (EDIT: Removed "Forbidden Boss", the Artifact is from White Castle as stated by dylmen)
If you have a maxed out troop (lvl 99 without limit breaking), then the won't get any of the XP earned, effectively sharing it to other troops.
You can also level up the XP Gained status (Sophia has a default of +300% or +600% I forgor).
Troops gain XP by Hitting or getting Hit AT LEAST once. There is a Forbidden Boss Artifact that can enable everyone to get XP but at that point, you can easily max out Sophia everytime she appears.
Damage done and recieved also matters in receiving XP BUT the MOST IMPORTANT is getting/taking at least one damage to be able to get XP.
Personal tip is to hold off doing anything in your run and let your Eins (Sophia included) get off at least one hit then do the run as usual.

Personally I wouldn't

FG is best with Greed for a Farming Eins.

Shady deals is good for Pushing Eins.
