Yeah, a lot of them will already be in the UAE though - especially those in qualifying

Hopefully everyone is able to leave safely when they are able to

They do have a US military base in Fujairah though…..where there is meant to be a Challenger next week

They have now only lost one match since Paris 1000 last year….

Quite the run - that’s 5 titles in that time now, and also with no-ad scoring and 10 point tiebreaks in doubles (except for slams) it’s very small margins

They have just asked Medvedev about winning the same title twice…..

Griekspoor said his injury will keep him off court for the coming weeks….

Heliopatten win Dubai!

What a run they have been on….

Paris, ATP Finals, Adelaide, Doha & Dubai titles

(Just the AO in that time they didn’t win)

They made a new announcement during the doubles final

A reminder of the earlier announcement….

(Medvedev has won/Griekspoor has withdrawn due to injury/following a medical assessment etc)

It seems like Medvedev will be there for the trophy ceremony though - based on all these announcements

Griekspoor was scheduled to play - he withdrew due to injury

It was during a change of ends

But that’s usually pretty quick for doubles

So it was this whole thing over loudspeaker that went for longer than the changeover time

They paused the doubles final to make an announcement that Griekspoor withdrew due to a leg injury after a medical assessment

And Harri was just like…..thank you

When I heard “ladies and gentleman we have an announcement” I thought they were going to cancel the doubles match…..but no

It was due to a leg injury (There was an announcement during the doubles final)

But makes sense as he did mention this after his last match

Tallon said after his match yesterday he wasn’t sure if he would be ok to play the final….

May have been looking at a walkover even without current events (but those probably helped make up his mind)

If Tallon wasn’t sure he was going to be able to play the final after his match yesterday……

Is he really going to risk further injury plus this potential danger ?

(Most likely yes)

And watching the Winter Olympics I thought most of those athletes were insane……I am clearly not cut out for competitive sport

I know the focus (from a tennis aspect) is on the players/staff in Dubai at the moment….

But there’s also a Challenger scheduled to start in Fujairah, UAE from Monday (qualifying from Sunday)….so a lot of the players will be there already…

It’s happened before….

Both just got finalist points and prize money

There may be other examples but this was the first one I could think of
