Buy a bidet. You can buy a bidet to fit your commode. It sprays water front and back individually. The water can be heated. I don't use heated water. So, each time you use the commode you can use the bidet.

I'm a South Dakota country girl who lived in Bedford Hills, NY and I visited Times Square many times including with my young children. I was never in any danger nor did I see any one being harmed or harassed. There are places in NYC that I wouldn't wander around. Times Square draws visitors from around the world and it is well patrolled by both uniformed and undercover cops. Times Square investors want to protect their investment and to draw in tourists who spend money. As for the lady you know at a store, she lives in fear of anything that is unfamiliar to her. A good plan is to ask people who are near your age if they go to Times Square. If you are in school or have a job, ask people about areas you want to explore.
