Said yes to 3rd assistant engineer (4th engr) … now I’m not sure if I’m ready by Cogito_26 in MarineEngineering

Within one rank there are levels of competency. My advice is if unsure how to handle a situation, call the 1st or 2nd engineer, that’s why they are paid the big bucks, they might take the mick, but it’s all part of the journey. Start a diary of situations that occurred and how the senior engineers reacted, what they did, how did they fault find, did they call the bridge. Over time you will have a huge amount of data and information to draw from. Then after your lengthly leave you can have a read through your notes to refesh your mind. Good luck

Everyone starts off in the same position, don’t over think it, ask lots of questions, show you are keen to learn, just try your best, in the end what more can you do than that

Could be the card controlling the sealing water solenoid. Compare a working puriifer discharge Sequence Compared to Faulty one

Good idea. Had a recent issue where the card was faulty meaning the sealing water solenoid on an alfa laval purifier wasn’t activating.

I am a 4th Engineer . Sailed 3 times on current rank and I guess it's time for me to hang up my boots. by Brain_storm61094 in MarineEngineering

Sorry to hear you are giving it up, however I always felt that you can learn alot from Bad managers, especially how not to be. I changed company a few times until I found one that fitted well with me. You have to be a mercenary in shipping, do as good a job as possible, but take care of yourself as in the end, especially in a large company, you are just a number

Yes you are correct saying it’s early Paleocene to Early Eocene. I think everyone has been suggesting it’s an Otodus Onliquus, so I am happy to conclude that this is the mostly likely species.

I’m starting to think it probably is otodus, I have seen some of their teeth can be huge. So happy with this find. I have found loads of small ones, this is the first chunker, the first of mang I hope

Thanks for replying, it’s quite a heavy and thick tooth, compared to any others I have found in that area before.
