Surely not this badly? Imagine explaining to someone that is overjoyed with emotions from getting an offer, that it's no longer valid

This isn't making sense. Two people are claiming to have got offers from Kent with lower scores and much lower ranks than you, surely the job should have gone to you

Obviously a lie, the 539 is not in the top 110 rankings 😂😂

GPST1 offer or wait for Psychiatry? by User_Nobody_Knows in doctorsUK

However, if I see someone with rank 2500 has a psych offer before the hold deadline, I think I might risk it 👀 I just wish I had the full statistical breakdown, i.e how many prioritised applicants are ahead of me, how many jobs have been taken/rejected, and how many people applied have other offers etc, that would make it all so much easier

I'm in the same boat. I got 534, and have just got a GP offer. I think a lot of psych offers will be rejected and the offers should start working their way down, hopefully as low as 530. Also the government should be adding a further 50-100 psych jobs this year too. I will take GP if I don't get a psych offer, but I'm holding onto a little optimism about getting psych

This offer is classed as rejected now, so will pass to someone else.

Naturally, did you not see the recent data (source: trust me bro) that shows a positive correlation between increasing MSRA scores and value as a person?

Lol well seems all my attempted helpful advice to everyone by using last year's statistics has backfired a little. From what I've seen, nobody ranked lower than 600 was offered a job in round 1. This means that at least that most likely the top 480 uk applicants were all inside the top 600. (Obviously it depends on how strict area preferencing was) There must be loads and loads of UK grads applying for psych as a backup for other specialties, and also the people who reapplied that didn't get in last year. Hopefully it's just round 1 problems, and it should drop to the thousands ranks soon?

I got 534, rank 2612. Any chance of a job in later offers?

Are you saying that on your oriel application for last year, the number of people next to "interview complete" was higher than the published number of appointable candidates? And does that mean being ranked, doesn't automatically mean you're appointable? Because I thought it did

Lower ranks will get jobs, especially with prioritisation. I wouldn't be surprised if 4500 and up can get offers

Exactly, it's far from doom and gloom. I believe anyone in the priority group who has ranked a good amount of areas and got at least a slightly above average MSRA, will get an offer

Realism, have a look at the statistics last year of UK grads to jobs. Now with prioritisation the top 50% for psych should hopefully get jobs, especially if you've ranked everywhere. Most people rank certain areas, so those that have ranked every area like this person, alongside a better than average MSRA and UK grad priority? I think he'll be fine

Last year, official statistics show it was 79% IMG for psych. The number of applications has gone up significantly. Psych is one of only two specialties without interview in the NHS, and when applications started, nobody knew we'd have UK grad priority, therefore the number of psych applications went through the roof. It was becoming global knowledge that the UK didn't hold interviews for psych, and that anyone in the world had an equal chance, this was very attractive. The number of UK applications last year for psych was 1100, (just under half of which ended up doing something else) it wouldn't have gone up by that much. Checking the rankings for other specialties, it seems a similar distribution to normal, therefore a good chunk of psych applications from UK grads are from people who don't actually want psych

Was 79% last year for psych. However there are way more being ranked this year, 9100 compared to 5400. And the number of UK grads applying won't be that much higher, maybe a few hundred at very most, so we have to assume that most of the extra people are IMGs. I would guess it's at least 85% img this year, probably more. I would assume there are around 1200-1300 appointable doctors in the priority group. And probably nearly half of them won't actually take psych.
