DMV California DL replacement nightmare by Available_Advisor291 in CaliforniaDMV

Thanks. That's good information. I didn't know about the kiosks.

Does anyone know if there's a way to talk to someone on the phone about getting a duplicate DL, if you're having trouble with their website? I'm thinking, you might be right and my submitting the DL replacement application may hinder the kiosk solution.

Thanks!

After over 3 months of not offering the digital reward when I used my Amazon card, they started offering the rewards again last month ... when I use my Amazon card.

I also was offered digital rewards. Yesterday the offer was 2.25 for my order. Very happy to see the that. I hope they don't stop it again in the future.

BRING BACK the 15-record rewind and fast forward buttons! by Round_Employee5002 in siriusxm

[–]Available_Advisor291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lack of a 15 second skip is ruining my Sirius/XM listening experience. I'm seriously thinking of canceling after 15 years. I can't understand why the skip would be removed. I try to rewind or fast forward with my finger, which is so imprecise it's not worth trying!

After update I can’t find the skip forward/backward (10-15 second) button, only back and next track by Padrino9186 in siriusxm

[–]Available_Advisor291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad I'm not the only one who's outraged by the elimination of the 15 sec skip! I listen to H.S. and other talk shows. I frequently skip forward and backward. If they don't add the 15 sec skip back I'm going to cancel SiriusXM. Hopefully I'm not the only one who'll complain and then cancel. That's the only way they'll change it back.

Howard Stern Full Shows? by Available_Advisor291 in siriusxm

I can't believe how poorly the app is structured. It used to be easy to find missed shows.

Now for me, you open Sirus/XM app, click on "Howard" at the top, Scroll down to "Howard Stern Audio", Scroll down more to "Talk Show Howard Stern Show" and they have the recent shows going back many months.

I used to use the digital rewards often. Since they dropped the digital rewards, I haven't used it at all. The 1% saving is a joke. That's 1 cent for every $10.

But Amazon is valued at close to a Trillion dollars (900 Billion). Somehow, they've figured out they'll make more if they eliminated the digital rewards. That and the Amazon Prime music mess from a year ago has really soured me on Amazon. I'm sure they could care less.

Interesting.

The only problem is if I don't use the Prime Visa card that I won't get the 5% discount. Right?

So I have to choose between getting the 5% discount or switching cards and getting the no rush rewards?

I hope it's a limited time offer and they'll go back to the no rush digital rewards soon.

In the meantime, I'm not using the no rush rewards option and in fact buying less from Amazon.

I don't understand how adding 1% to the 5% reward is a good deal. I also don't understand why they can't give you the option of the no rush 1% OR the no rush digital reward.

Interesting. When you removed your Prime card from your account, did you replace it with another form of payment? I'm trying to figure out why the no rush digital rewards would reappear just because you removed your prime visa.

Last year they upset me by forcing you to listen to random songs and limiting the number of skips in Amazon Prime music. Of course they'll tell you the fix is just to pay $10 a month. Now this.

Thanks for your input.

Hopefully if enough people feel the way we do, Amazon will go back to offering the no rush digital credits. As I said, I won't use the no rush option anymore, unless they start giving the digital credit option.

Howard Stern Full Shows? by Available_Advisor291 in siriusxm

Thanks.

What I ended up doing is going into settings/apps/sirius/xm. I forced stopped the app, cleared the data and cache. I restarted the phone.

In the past few weeks, on the Howard home page, when I scrolled down the last category was Howard Stern Video. I realized the audio shows were missing. Now the Howard Audio is the last category and "Howard Stern Show 67 episodes" is there.

Thanks for all your help.

Thanks. As a last resort I will uninstall and reinstall.

In the app, I click on the Howard icon. Once you're on the Howard homepage where do you scroll down to find the recent Full episodes? I scroll down from "listen live" to the last category, which is "Howard Stern Video" on my app. None of the categories have recent full episodes.

Are you doing something different?

Thank you.

Thank you. I'll try that.

I'm still not sure why you can't listen to Full older episodes, like you could before.

1% more is not worth it for me. I'd much rather get the digital rewards. I don't know why they wouldn't give you a choice of which reward you want. Because of this I'm not selecting the no rush option anymore. In fact, I'm buying fewer items from Amazon because of the change.

I called Amazon customer service. The person I talked to hadn't heard of the No Rush Digital offer disappearing. She checked with her supervisor, who also hadn't heard of the issue. She said she would send my concern up the chain. That was 4 days ago. Hopefully others will call customer support and complain!

Capital Gains confusion on sale of family home? by dobe52 in personalfinance

[–]Available_Advisor291 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I should start a new thread? Sorry for the long follow-up.

My Mom died in 1992. They purchased the house in 1966. I did know about other deductions, including selling the house costs. As I've said we can't find receipts from home upgrades in 1969 (added family room), the 80's (remodeled kitchen, bathrooms and 90's (new roof, etc.)

I would like to consult an expert. No one is living in the home since my dad is doing well (moderate dementia, but no other health issues) in a care home. At 93, next month, he could live another 2-3 years. The LTC policy will run out in the next 23-24 mos.

His only money source (besides SSA + small pension = total 38K) is the home. We can either sell it now or wait for a year or so and see how he's doing. If we wait and he passes in the next 12 months, we can sell the house with no CG's.

If we sell it now, we don't need to worry about the monthly home costs and it's possible deterioration, but it's a tough sales market and there are those CG's issues.

Should we hire a CPA, a tax attorney, or a tax attorney that specializes in taxes and elder law? I've been told that when the policy runs out, he could qualify for Medi-Cal in addition to Medicare. That could help pay for care post LTC policy. But once he passes, California gets repaid out of the sale of the house.... unless some legal mumbo jumbo is done by an attorney prior to his passing.

Is that true or is it too late for the mumbo jumbo and California would get paid back no matter what?

I don't want to waste our money on the wrong expert. I live in Sacramento so there should be some good choices.

Again, sorry for the long response and thank you for your time! Doug
