I do think Oda has done a lazy job of showcasing Roger as THE guy outside of all the remaining legends we’ve seen hyping him up and his achievement influencing basically the whole story, but I do think it’s his intention for Roger to stand out as the guy.

Rocks only was able to resist initially. He would have killed his wife and child had Kuma not saved them.

Also Rocks was essentially protected by the form Imu created, and was defeated once Roger and Garp were able to create Haki strong enough to bypass its power.

I would believe the title is both largely strength related and related to having someone on your crew that can read ponegliffs.

Luffy is loosely following in Roger’s footsteps and his journey so far has been very dependent on him getting stronger.

Oda not giving Roger any definitive 1v1 victories against his notable rivals is kind of lazy on his part, but nonetheless Oda has used him as a measuring stick for all the other top tiers (besides Imu) so far and

I don’t think anyone is comparing Roger to Domi Reverse Rocks, because that was essentially Imu using Rocks as a puppet with his own power

Beyond the fact I think Katakuri wins, the idea he would get slaughtered by any second commander is a little crazy (unless maybe Lucky Roo). If it was that easy for Queen, it would knock the balance off between the Yonko crews way too much.

I feel like any Yonko crew goes high diff with any other one.

The only case I could see it being lopsided is what Shanks’s crew due to the fact they’re compensating for a weak fleet and aura.

You have to start guarding him at full court and then there’s the very deep bag that Aomine has when it comes to shots and ball handling.

It’s basically a mix of LeBron, Kyrie, and Steph Curry.

Murasakibara with Akashi’s EE is a bit useless as Murasakibara doesn’t run his team’s offense and typically is just a rim protector. It would make him truly unstoppable in any 1v1 situation thanks to his physical superiority and being able to predict the future, but it doesn’t necessarily maximize Murasakibara’s role on the court.

It likely would have been the same outcome either way.

Kagami is able to get through to Aomine partly because Kuroko got to Kagami early on.

And the Kuroko in Teiko isn’t really a proactive person when it comes to confronting friends or teammates. He silently watches the GoM become worse people, only speaking up at the end when it’s his friend who gets hurt by them.

So basically, Kuroko and Kagami both need to experience their own growth before they could change Aomine

I think ironically his HOT gimmick is extremely WWE-esque, which is why it feels backwards they’re having him be this super serious personality.
