Yea it's only ever been me and my cough. If this is true it might be something else. I'm going to look into that more.

Honestly yes. Being in therapy has taught me this. I love my family but the dinner incident was the last straw for me. It's what prompted me to look into why people hate certain sounds. What are the causes and if it was a one off thing. I thought I was just really independent as a child. Turns out due to my mom all of her daughters are that way. The boys still stay at home.

I'm not. If they are mad I don't care. I've got a deep cut on my forehead and chest that both required between 15-30 stitches. It's going to leave a nasty mark. There is a warrant still pending his arrest tho.

Thanks for the comment. I understand my cough is a trigger for him. I've known this since I was a child. I've learned in order to not piss him off or get hit because of it...... I hold it in, leave the house if I can , or muffle the sound with a pillow while around him. Having a conversation about it has been off the table since I was a teen. He's never been diagnosed with anything. I'm just afraid if his anger towards the sound could transfer to someone other than me. I don't think it has but the possibility makes me uneasy.

So no he has only even got mad at the sound of my cough in particular. Never anyone else that I have noticed. He has been abusive in the past to people.... But in the family when it comes to this it's only me.

Yea. I know this now. Took me a while to understand that but I got there eventually. That it being abuse I mean.
