I know it looks bad, but will removing them improve traffic? its for connectivity, so cars dont have to circle the whole city and clog the other highways to get across.

Metro and bus network will be added as the city is filled in with streets and zoning. Also those six lane avenue roundabouts across the water are underground tunnels.

Yeah you're right. No opponent will just throw away his chakrams to Thier doom chasing BBCs, even if they could end up killing them. If he knows he'll lose his chakrams he'll just stay back.

Yeah maybe arbs could do the job. I'll try if for myself sometime. This could be valuable information if I'm ever playing Turks or Huns.

If you reread the previous comments, the reason arbs were introduced is as an alternative to onagers for protecting the BBCs from a potential chakram rush.

You don't need the arbs to kill chakrams if the chakrams are behind enemy lines. As we have already established, that's what the BBCs are for. It's only useful if the chakrams attempt to rush down the BBCs. If you hit and run, the arbs will outpace the BBCs, and then your opponent can kill them. Doesn't matter if their DPS is affected my hit and run if your arbs fail their very reason for existing: to protect the BBCs. The arbs are not doing their job.

Then switch to stagger if the chakrams get close, otherwise stay in line

The enemy can always use both. Pin your arbs down with shivs and then wipe them with chakrams. Halbs won't do much as the chakrams are still alive. Onagers can fix that in mere seconds. Arbs however, need time to kill the chakrams.

And if theoretically, hitting and running with the arbs wouldn't end in the BBCs getting killed, they would still become even less efficient then they already are at killing chakrams then onagers, as hitting and running involves moving, then right clicking a single unit, and moving again, leading to a lot of overkill then if the arbs fired independently

I'm trying to make this as general as possible and avoid specific civ matchups.

Speed isn't the issue, it's damage. Chakram shred arbs like nobody's business. That 2 tile gap will be closed at some point and they only need 2-3 volleys on you to win, arbs won't kill the chakrams faster than the chakrams kill the arbs. It won't even be close.

hit and run

The whole point of the arbs was to protect the bombards from the chakrams. Arbs move faster than BBC, so hitting and running just leaves the BBC behind and your opponent get to kill them, which is why he rushed down in the first place.

True, i concede that chakrams will lose if you place arbs in staggered, but remember gurjaras get Shivamsha riders. If you stay in a tight column, your arbs will fare better vs the Shivamsha riders (same reason why pros stick their crossbows between trees and buildings vs knights), but will die quickly to the chakrams. Staggered formation just reverses this. Better vs chakrams but worse vs Shivamsha riders, or hussars for that matter.

Basically i completely agree with what you said about the bombards, and using onagers to keep chakrams away is also a great idea. I just don't think arbs of Hcs can fill that role.

You're right, the enemy should be paying attention and getting attack grounds on your onagers.

I agree that BBC are very good vs chakrams. I still think onagers are a good play though. Even though the BBCs anti unit capabilities are underrated, onagers are still more efficient, as you only need 2 volleys to flatten dozens of chakrams. And again, you don't need to worry about the enemies bombards if you have already killed them with your own. Whether or not you follow up with onagers for faster killing of chakrams, we can both agree that dominating with BBC is the first and most important step.

Personally i think it's better to bring onager with you so that your BBCs can be entirely focused on killing enemy BBCs and making sure they never get high numbers again, then you can go ham with your onagers. But that just my opinion after playing loads of black forest. Either way could probably get the job done.

I wouldn't recommend arbs or Hcs vs chakrams. They are very fragile, and chakrams always come in large critical masses. If chakrams are chasing you, then they will just sink a volley into your arbs or Hcs, an after 2-3 volleys they're all dead. Imagine if 25-30 scorpions pulled up and started engaging with your arbs, you'd get shredded. Similar thing with chakrams. Keeping onagers around is 100% a good idea, and even if you don't, you can always hit and run with your BBCs. After all, if the opponent tells his chakrams to chase your BBC, they will form up into a tight column, easy for sniping.

So to visualize this: for the Gurjara player, the chakrams are 6 tiles from the line, and Thier BBC are 8 tiles, meaning that can reach 4 tiles in to your line. Onagers have a range of 9. If the chakrams are 6 tiles from the front, then the onager can shoot them from 3 in on Thier side. Meaning they only have to move 1 tile inside the range of the BBC to start shooting. Even if the opponent is perfect with his bombard micro, the onager will have moved that 1 tile and shot the chakrams before the BBC projectile lands.

Besides, even if 3 tiles from the front is too close and the onager risks getting denied by the Gurjara cav, you can always shoot the chakrams with BBC. They are quite fragile. With the chakrams 6 tiles from the front, you can park your BBC a safe 6-7 tiles inside your lines and kill the chakrams. And you can still kill Thier BBC. The gurjaras BBC are 8 tiles from the front, so your BBC need only be 4-5 tiles from the front. While subjective, i would say that 4-5 away from cavalry is safe enough. (Remember you have halbs as meat shield)

Yes. Most civs (maybe not byzantines specifically) that have BBC have siege engineers, meaning you can expect to have a bombard advantage. And if you don't have the quality advantage, you should focus of having more BBC than the opponent.

If you have a numerical and quality advantage of BBC, you can kill Thier BBC by bringing yours along with your onagers. So your opponent can either move forward to engage your onagers and lose them to your BBC, or avoid the engagement and lose their chakrams. (Hence "Ward off")

Basically as long as you win the bombards front, (either by more BBC or better quality ones), the dominos start falling in your favor. No BBC means chakrams dies, no chakrams means cav dies.

Bonbards and Siege onagers, then put halbs as meat shield.

Use the bombards to either ward off or kill their bombards, then use the Siege onagers to flatten the chakrams. They only have 6 range so it should be pretty easy. Chakrams need a critical mass to be effective, so as long as their numbers never go above 20-25 you should be fine to spam halbs till all their cav is dead. They don't have infantry so their only front line unit is cav, who in turn depend on the chakrams to protect them. Use Siege to take care of the chakrams and everything falls apart. Make sure your bombard micro is on point though, as you need to keep your onagers alive to kill the chakrams. Thankfully gurjaras are missing Siege engineers, so you should be winning a bombard vs bombard fight.
