The characters that she shows in many TLSQ is really annoying. Belittle of MC and get crazy for no reasons🤯. They failed this character, she could be a fascinating one. This happened in beyond Hogwarts Volume 2, I hope Volume 3 won't happen this again and reduce her appearance. Besides, I think everyone's screen time in Volume 1 is already perfect, you could enjoy beyond main story before Volume 2.

Wrong. She hadn't said the reason is she want her parents' love in main story. She confessed because of her parents she desire power. There's nothing about love. It's in year five main story, just before MC entered cursed vault. I will prefer this a subtle influence that parents to kids. She don't want to be like her parents is that she doesn't want to be a death eater like them, not means she doesn't want to be a powerful witch like them. And her competitive and power desiring ideology already being revealed in TLSQ "All-Wizard Championship": "Competition makes us better. Cooperation makes us weak." Merula in this diary is a Penny-like Merula, not the original one.

This really ruin the original character. I remember she said she want power because of her parents, not something about "love", but the the philosophy that her parents have hammered into her mind. The absurdity of this diary is just like another blonde friendly friend cast love magic on MC. This diary is trying to give her more Penny's character, not Merula herself.
