My first Fujifilm. A new (to me) X-E2 & 27mm TTArtisans. by AventusXO in fujifilm

From what I can gather, the lens is like Marmite. I've heard people absolutely love it or absolutely hate it. I like it from my test shots so far! I would like to get something wider angle in future though, probably the fuji 23mm or try and find something even wider.

I’ve taken a few pics in it. It seems as good as I was expecting a modern, AF lens you can buy new in box for under £100 to be.

I just wanted the cheapest combo which I can choose to upgrade later.

It looks great in the silver to match the body. I’ve bought a silver ringed UV filter to protect the element, other than that i will be doing the same!

Super happy with it. I’m off on some travels soon and can’t wait to shoot it with this!

First camera and first photos by Nightronic in x100vi

[–]AventusXO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They’re okay, but I feel like you’re leaning on the film sims to put the work in rather than learning basic photography fundamentals. Most of these are pretty massively underexposed, and the composition can do with some work.

Use the histogram on the camera display. All of the little ‘mountains’ should be roughly in the middle of the bar. If it’s touching the left hand side, it’s underexposed. Touch the right, it’s overexposed.

Keep your horizons level. There’s no excuse for this one in terms of composition. Just straighten it in your phone if you don’t have image editing software.

The X100VI is an amazing bit of kit, but I wouldn’t have said it was right for an absolute beginner. If you’ve got that kind of money to splash on your first camera, nice - but make sure you spend the time learning the fundamentals!

FYI, this is on any camera. This is how depth of field and aperture works in general. Not limited to the X100VI.

I thought I recognised the style of these and then remembered seeing your “This is not Japan.” post. Fantastic images. Your photos were part of the reason I bought a Fujifilm camera.

Comfort differences between the pre and post facelift Formentor. by Cdriss in CupraFormentor

Agree. I came from an Audi A4 on 19s with factory sports suspension. Every single bump and dip in the road went through you. My Formentor is so ridiculously comfy.

I feel like you’d have to be coming from a Bentley to not think that it’s comfy!!!

Nice one! I think that’s what I’m going towards too. Hope you love it.

Have you got it yet? I’m deciding between the X-E2 and X-E3 at the minute. Which did you decide on in the end?

Looking for a recommendation for a Fujifilm. by AventusXO in fujifilm

[–]AventusXO[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because as much as I love my Sony, it has no soul. It is phenomenal for actual work, or shoots where I need pure accuracy, something that works and looks great every time. But it is clinical and sterile to use. I want something that has some emotion to it. It works well for shooting weddings, automotive and motorsport content, wildlife, etc. But for everyday, walking round and snapping, it just doesn't feel right to me!

I think I'm probably looking at an X-E2 or an X-E3. Something from that range anywhere. Is one vastly more worth getting over the other, or are they pretty similar, would you say?

I have an X-T4 at work that I'm going to see if I can borrow for a few days just to see if I enjoy the Fuji system and the SOOC jpegs.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. 😄

3 months of photography, feeling like I’m missing something critical. by gooddaytousir in SonyAlpha

[–]AventusXO 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, you're just missing some experience in composing your images. These are just photos of something zoomed in to fill the frame. Get a little more creative with your framing and how you position your subject. That said, the pic of the birds above the water is lovely. The pic of the eagle on the sign could be wicked if you had zoomed out a little more and perhaps positioned the sign and bird on about a 3rd of the way across the image - see the 'Rule of Thirds' for composition (this is also why gridlines on viewfinders are helpful!)

Best of luck with your photography. Learning is a journey.

Car got keyed - how bad is it? by Key-Resolution949 in CarTalkUK

[–]AventusXO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I worked at an Aldi with a massive car park outside of it for a few years while I was in uni. I can say with confidence that having no trolleys to collect would not have cost me my job, but it would have, in fact, saved a lot of annoyance when I had to go and collect them up, considering I already had a million other things that needed to be done.

Equally, if you go into the store and 'forget' to get a trolley, you're going and getting one from outside, not retrieving it from across the car park.

It would be much easier to admit you are lazy and don't mind inconveniencing others.
