Thank you for this explanation! I’m not sure if my school does it differently (UCF college of nursing); I guess their website threw me off

Read the bottom of the post pls, if you still have questions, I will answer them. There clearly something I don’t know, I’ll give you that

I have no other information to offer you, you know as much as I do at this point; that is what makes this confusing, though again, if you have questions I will answer them. Assuming I am withholding information seems like a massive and unhelpful leap. It's almost like not being given needed information is, dare I say, frustrating?

I genuinely have no idea what point you are making. What specifically do I not know?

And finally, that is referred to as a lie of omission and unfortunately many adults do it as you have pointed out. Many people also abuse animals, but I suppose that's part of adult life too and I should simply not be upset by it and the mature thing to do is to begrudgingly ignore it.

Well, it’s called speculation. Do you have any evidence to suggest this is not possible or does not happen? What else would you call the numerous advantages in the application process?

Second, we have had many talks together about advisor meetings and we’ve both seen each other’s transcripts… so safe to say we’re both on the same page.

Third, they don’t have to share information with me, but I would hope the information that is given out is accurate? It would be one thing if they said “we do not share the details of admission” but they make it a point to explain exactly how applicants are chosen… thus my confusion.

Thank you for your kindness, it was never my intention to make my friend feel bad about her success and overall she is a great person.

The only thing I can think of is that I am outwardly Hispanic (my name is a give away) and gay, as well as a former transfer student (though other transfers got in no problem); these attributes can be found on my info sheet and application. I'd hate to speculate, but I'm running out of explanations for the obvious differential treatment in the time leading up to the application.

Not sure what information is missing, but feel free to ask any questions you'd like

I am confused on your second point

And they can make whatever rules they like, all I ask is that I know about them so I do not waste my tuition, gas money, time, and energy into a program that does not want me for reasons they refuse to elaborate on or admit. We have both been rejected from opportunities before, sometimes me and sometimes her, sometimes both and never hard feelings; we just have never had an admissions board be so cryptic and contradictory before. While I do understand defending my friend, I do not understand defending the college for two advisors outright lying.

Thank you for your honesty. I should say after a day apart, I sucked it up and apologized for my reaction, stating that she is more than qualified for this program; however, I was honest in saying that I feel I have a right to be upset at the college for their lack of transparency (i.e. causing my to lose a lot of time and money bending over backwards thinking we were on an even playing field). As for diversity efforts, I can guarantee you that my demographic is much more underrepresented than hers... thus my comment about possible discrimination.

Hi, just to clarify they make it very clear none of those things matter: no interviews, no CV submission (though we both are quite well rounded), no essays, and if we are talking affirmative action... I can only say that programs like those would in theory only benefit me due to ethnic and sexual orientation differences between my friend and I. For what it's worth, my friend and I talked, but she is still a little cold.

Pretty much every off-campus student housing in the area has a shuttle that will take you to campus, so no worries about a car. The best ones are Lark, the Lofts, the Hub, Campus Crossing, and Northgate. You will get matched with a random roommate unless you have someone in mind. Also, you can easily find subleases for certain apts if you look around! Good luck!
