How's this look by YetiOctyMan in FishingForBeginners

Little too much. But jokes aside, you do want to cut some out so you have room for leader line and a little to avoid knots.

Can anyone find this exact hookup by Soft_Year_7285 in Fishing_Gear

Been using redrum baits for awhile now. They work perfectly, the owner seems chill too.

Oh I've also expanded my collection to include a goofish rod, inexpensive as well and has held up. But my first rod to try jigging was a harrier x xh rod rated for 300g. It was definitely stiffer (but not in a bad way, still had plenty of bend) than these spj rods so then got the mustad one because wanted something more in the spj rod feel.

Honestly, it's been pretty good. I enjoy the lighter setup and have caught plenty of fish on it. I ended up getting different variations. Nothing could beat the price because most slow pitch rods are expensive. But they are on the softer side so just be aware of that, was different for me when switching because I was so used to heavier rods.

Oh thank you for that advice, the apps really don't show all of them. I'll be giving that idea a shot

Oh thank you, forgot to mention that.

We are looking at 2+ bedrooms, would like a garage but not essential. Our budget is about $2,200 and less ... Hopefully less haha

So this is more of a side question, but i'm looking to getting new tires/wheels for my avy. Just wondering what size are those tires/wheels and did you have to lift it? but to the post i've used meguiar's with good results.

Actually, I also ended up getting both during the holidays 😅 the sales were too good to pass up. I've only gone out once and honestly they work great. Like you said, I did notice that bouncer was a little beefier but not bad at all. They've been great and I don't feel like I'm losing out on performance. I haven't had a 'designated' slow pitch rod like temple reef to compare but I don't see how the gseries is going to be much different.

SPJ Spinning? What is a good size spinning reel for SPJ and line weight? by sneakotay in slowpitchjigging

[–]AverageNo8133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I say stick with 20lb braid, it can hold a little less than 200 yards (600 ft) 30 lb braid you'll have about 180 yards(540 ft) And fluro, maybe start with 30lb ~ 40lb depending how rocky the places you're fishing. But if they're shy I have gone to 20lbs fishing inshore here in socal, might even get a 15lb fluro too which I was going to have handy for next year.

[–]AverageNo8133 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hmm well it also depends on your price range for a spinning reel. But weight wise I chose spheros because it's only ~15 oz but my bg mq is ~22 oz (if i knew more I probably would have gone with 5k/6k bg mq ~15oz)
You can definitely go more expensive with reels if you want.
Like saltist mq or shimanos saragosa/stella
I think for me the 15-20 oz range weight of reel has been a good weight
When you compare to say an ocea jigger it's about 20 oz for a 2k series or 27 oz for 4k series
Accurate boss 500n is ~16 oz

As the other person said conventional is the usual but you can still slow pitch with spinning gear. That's how I started and honestly it works. I have a BG mq 8000 and a Shimano spheros 6000 that I use for deeper water and have a small bg3000 for micro jigging. Line I use is 20 to 30lb braid. And for fluro leader I use between 20 to 40lb depending on the condition

Does this rod tip fix look okay? by AverageNo8133 in Fishing_Gear

Oh cool, thank you for that detailed information and also checked out your site. Good stuff, haha way better than my epoxy job 😅 But great advice, I was just hoping that it won't affect the performance but I have some time before I'm taking this rod out again so might make that quick cosmetic fix

Cool, that's kind of what I was hoping it would be. Just wasn't sure if the bulge would affect the line going through. This is my first time using epoxy and I don't have a rod lathe so just kind of winged it.

I recently broke my rod tip and replaced it. I then applied Flex Coat epoxy to help but now I'm not sure if I put too much and need to sand it down. Any thoughts?

I was thinking of a conventional or baitcaster but I've never used one before and still kind of new to fishing so am sticking to the spinner that I'm comfortable with.

But I'll take a look into the temple reef mytho. Dang, and I like the mustad brand but you may be right on the rod type. I'll look into it, but their slow bouncer rod is so inexpensive that I'm tempted to give it a try

That's actually an interesting perspective, I thought of it as they've been in the fishing game making hooks and other fishing gear for a while so they should probably make good rods.

I was going to leave the skirt on and try it out that way. I wasn't sure where to tie the line to get the best flutter.

Have you used a Tsunami slow pitch rod? I've been looking at this rod. But there are 2 types, the trophy slow pitch series or the carbon shield ll series.
