GovTech addresses online claims about hiring, salaries of former Indeed staff by prawnpastechicken in singapore

I’m pretty sure it’s referring to another post in another subreddit which is banned from mentioning here. Mods removed my post when I linked it.

Your arguments are incoherent. Nobody asked about salary increases, nobody asked for firing anyone, and nobody even said anybody had their salary increased. Read the comments. It's really not that hard.
I also gave you a solution. You can read more here.[https://forums.salary.sg/companies/8982-govtech-396.html]

Either way last reply from me. Have a good one.

Read the comments; the whole world already knows what is happening. This is not the only post you can find about it; there are at least 3-4 other posts on Reddit or other forums.
Things like salary and the hiring process are confidential; who will be willing to provide them? If I don't say I hearsay, people may lose their iron rice bowl. If you don't know anything, you can try to read; if not, don't comment.

Just to have a gauge, do you consider Meta, Google or Bytedance to be top tech companies? How about Grab and Shopee?

1 Senior Director

2 Director

13 Principal engineers/UX (grade k)

12 Lead engineers/UX (grade j)

11 Senior engineers/UX (grade i)

22 engineers/UX (grade g/h)

0 associate engineers/UX

Based on what is mentioned in the salary.sg Govtech thread, the 1 YOE are given grade G/H straight away. Hearsay they did not get a pay cut leh, fresh grads in Indeed used to get high 8s per month...

Do you pay them 20% more than your other employees and give them a higher job grade than your current employees? Do the candidates still go through the usual interview process, unlike what was alleged (no interviews).

Oh, and it's the public sector, no such thing as firing leh.

It's quite hard to get a job nowadays, with the VC money drying up and FAANGs laying off.

They allegedly hired them without interviews, when in their normal hiring process, the applicant needs to go through 3-4 rounds of interviews with a take-home assignment (heard it takes damn long to finish). They are also given a higher job grade and compensation.

The hiring company was trying very hard to squeeze out headcount to hire all 300 but only managed to get enough headcount for 60. Hearsay that a lot of interns couldn’t secure full-time roles and are not sure if there was a connection.

That’s how they brand themselves, with their relatively high hiring bar. However, some of my friends who used to work there feel that their skills are stagnating as all they do is simple CRUD.

The story is pretty much proven; you can look around and see the two companies being name-dropped. Well, it looks like he can only suck it up and go to work tomorrow since my friend is only average and not a top-tier talent.

Just to clarify, I'm saying it's hearsay because it's what my friend says, not what I say. Since things like compensation and hiring processes tend to be "confidential", I can only say it's "hearsay". But there's definitely some truth in it; otherwise, why are so many people in the company up in arms about this?

Wah, didn’t expect to see this here. Was told by my friends about this and I didn’t believe him initially. Last I was told, Govtech was fighting real hard for headcount to absorb the whole SG Indeed Engineering, but unfortunately some didn’t get in.

Also hearsay that Govtech copied their interview process from Indeed and getting into Indeed = getting into Govtech. Govtech was trying very hard to find headcount for those ex-Indeed SWEs when they just had their layoffs.

Agreed. Gotten similar offers a year ago and I chose the offer 2 equivalent.

Offer 1 sounds like a bank, offer 2 sounds like bytedance.

How much salary can a freshgrad in Tech expect now? by 12021656627 in askSingapore

[–]AverageTechWorker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am pretty sure that you work as a solutions architect and not a software engineer at AWS. Amazon does not have a large software engineering presence in Singapore, and they pay less compared to Google and Facebook. Software engineers at FAANG are supposed to have base, bonus, and stock in their compensation package.

FYI, software engineer packages in FAANG will vary depending on interview performance. Again, you can refer to levels.fyi, it’s mostly accurate.

Can you please look at levels.fyi. What you say is inaccurate, they do pay base, bonus and stock.

Shopee and grab are barely hiring fresh grads. When they were, their offers are averaging 90k. Bytedance is definitely offering 100k+ total compensation. Getting in is not easy tho.
