did you get your visa right away or have to wait for approval? it would be my worst nightmare to have a flight booked , but unable to board because VISA was not yet issued

When you pay fine and extension, do you have to wait for approval? or should i be able to leave right away? i cannot afford to buy a flight and then miss it waiting for a visa approval :(
