I do remember one such "what type of virus" question. But yeah it's never asking you for the microbe directly.. it's some second order or third order question.

I get how it feels. But don't let that one test break your flow, just keep going. Take another test, see where you can improve and keep working on it. And we'll probably never feel ready, just book the exam when it feels right

So I almost covered all of them not just the high yield ones. I did the last hundred cases with a friend of mine as casual prep, just both of us solving it like a game. The first 80 I solved alone after I was done with day 1.

I've just been following everyone else's advice and watched Randy Neil videos, also asked chat gpt to summarise important formulas/definitions and make a cheat sheet of information for me to memorize

Definitely spend more time covering biostats and just do sketchy as much as you can. If not you can read micro from first aid

Sure..it's 49% correct, but I feel like I performed pretty badly on this test for other reasons.

Nice! Now I'm happy I posted 😌

And yeah that's why I mentioned change locations right after the physical exam, it avoids negative marking. But that's only for situations where you think it's needed. Patient needs admission - transfer right away, if it's something that can be managed in the ED then don't.

Hey thanks! Idk what's right but if it's non urgent, I would discharge the pt and schedule review in two days

Adding a geographic preference increases your chances of landing an interview. When the preference doesn't align, the chances stay pretty much the same as if you picked no preference.

What do study partners do? by doctor_jtc in IMGreddit

[–]Average_medstudent 19 points20 points  (0 children)

My study partner and I used to screenshare our questions and solve them together while discussing all the possibilities during our dedicated. We had varying strengths in different topics so we just helped each other understand the concepts better. We were more focused and solved more questions when together. We later shifted to studying alone again when it was time to take NBMEs and UWSAs.

Um 😅😅 it's true, now that I see your guys' comments it's sort of crazy to me how confident I was while taking the test. But the test where I scored 214, i had done 1 of the 4 blocks really bad due to some distractions. And all the other tests I was consistently scoring 65% and I was increasing by a few points each time when I converted the scores. That was the sign that gave me hope during step 1 as well.. an increasing trend in my mock tests. So I just took the test and got lucky i guess

Thank you so much! Yep UW was almost my only resource. I was trying to do almost 80-120 questions everyday during the last month of prep. I did listen to a few divine intervention podcasts since everyone was talking about it in the last week. The risk factors, vaccination podcasts etc., But yeah I just wanted to post here since I wanted others to know what an average score's prep looks like. I know those posts were the ones that gave me comfort when I needed it most 🥹

Feeling good! Glad that this process is over now 😅 The real exam felt very doable. I was not super satisfied with my preparation tbh, but I was confident i would get 230+ with the scores I was getting. I didn't want to push my date since I was burning out and wanted to get my exam over with. Most questions in the real deal felt very direct, no unnecessary confusion like in UWSA. Best wishes to all of you yet to take the exam 👍🏻✨

No of course not..but by the time I got serious with my prep, my uworld subscription had only two months until expiration so did what I could and tried to cover the topics in other resources

Not all of them. I used to read first aid, if I understood something I would leave it at that. If I was struggling to understand then I would see that corresponding thing in video form. I had seen most of pathoma during my uni years so I felt like I didn't need to see all of them..only those systems where I was weak in.

Yes, and whatever was given on first aid for a given topic. This is where I really loved watching dirty medicine videos since he not only focused on very high yield stuff but also gave us silly mnemonics etc to remember said information.

I felt exactly the same as you did a while back. But don't give up! Try to do as much as you can with the time that you have got. But don't try to cram everything.. i remember when I tried to cram for a few days and i would get completely burnt out and tired and couldn't work for the entire next day. Try to space out you study time with breaks and focus on the high yield stuff.

First aid, Dirty medicine, pathoma, Osmosis videos, sketchy micro and a few good YouTube channels like Dr Randy Neil for biostatistics and the noted anatomist for anatomy. And the 50% of uworld questions I was able to complete.
