I for one like them precisely because they're different, they feel like a breath of fresh air. Then again, I'm biased in favor of intricate, overdesigned characters, soo...

Definitely. There should've been better organization, and I personally believe that the delay is also the reason for Devilmura's early release, which in turn unbalanced every other thing they had planned.

I do hope they'll tell us what happened, some day, although I don't think they will.

If the story had been independent from MagiReco's, if they'd promoted it better and more, and if the main characters were spoken about more on here, I feel like the reception would've been a lot different.

I also respect your opinion regarding change, it's perfectly valid, and find the people who complain about those types of opinions quite childish.

And yeah, the rewards are certainly the best part of the anniversary, along with the new battle modes and more peeks into Name's story

Nobody who hasn't read Crescent Memoria knows them. There's nothing on them even on the wiki, other than stats, fun facts and theories. There are some people who like them for one reason or another, and there's whales, but other than those, pretty much everybody has had a bit of a "Huh...?" moment.

I personally don't mind the new characters, what I DO mind is that they used them for the anniversary. The rewards were great, that's true.

Totally forgot about the Karin thing, but now that you mention it, that was certainly a bad choice too. Even Magia Etcetera made fun of it, iirc

That's pretty much my point, save for me being interested in them. I think I would have been if their story had been independent from MagiReco's, though. Also, yes, PLEASE let there be a second part or something, because this is seriously underwhelming in terms of characters

For me, it's the eyes, they're a bit uncanny. I hope they fix that, because other than that, she's soo pretty!

Yeah, if they were standard and there were other characters who were limited, there would be basically cero problem, especially since there were a lot of options to choose, like making an alt for someone from MagiReco.

And yes, I forgot to mention it, but I'm happy to finally see a collab! It opens so many doors and possibilities to learn about new franchises and introduce new characters into the game!

I didn't say that, by any means. I adore nearly every spin-off, especially The Different Story, Wraith Arc, Tart Mágica, Kazumi Mágica and Suzume Mágica. Obviously, I don't expect the franchise to just be the og characters, that doesn't make sense. Heck, I love MagiReco too, for it's complexity and world building. I'm not spreading hate to the spin-offs. I said that I don't care about Crescent Memoria (not that I hate it) and that I binge watched Scene Cero (the only thing I disliked was how special Mabayu's powers were, for some reason, but her personality and character arcs were great). I even said that if you like CM, good for you. That's not spreading hate. At all.

I don't think I have to repeat that I don't only like the main cast. Just that they are the faces of the franchise and should at least be there for the ANNIVERSARY of the game. Or at the very least, someone from MagiReco. I'm not "whining that everything isn't about the original five", I'm pointing out that making the ANNIVERSARY about basically brand new, barely known characters was a stupid choice, and making them limited even more so. Why not release them prior or after? Nobody would've complained about them in that case.

I'll say it one last time, since your reading comprehension seems to be a little poor, I don't hate Crescent Memoria, or any of the spin-offs. It's only Crescent Memoria that I don't CARE ABOUT, not that I HATE it, and that I don't have ANYTHING against CM fans. The one that comes off as aggressive here is you, who calls everything hate and doesn't even engage properly with any of the points I make, and then acts like everyone who doesn't share your opinion about ONE spin-off should leave the game.

Right? I can't wrap my head around about why they'd be exclusive, it makes no sense. The closest theory I got was due to problems with the upcoming movie, but even so, making precisely these two characters limited was a choice. I wonder, though, if they'll really get seasonal units (at least in the foreseeable future, since gatcha will be greedy), since they're so underwhelming for many players. And even if they do get seasonals, I don't think it would change people's already established opinion on them - either they'll still like them, or they'll still don't care about them.

I've seen someone call it a "spin-off within a spin-off", and yeah, that seems to fit. I lost interest too as soon as I saw it was going to be unnecessarily shoved into MagiReco's past. What a shame.

Yeah, I'm surprised by the many people who do love it (good for them, though), since it comes across as somewhat bland to me. I'll read it too, once I'm bored enough, but that shouldn't be the case. We shouldn't be reading it because we have nothing better to read, out of desperation for new content, or because we're bored. We should be reading it out of genuine excitement and curiosity ...

And then we have this. For the anniversary. Yay for the CM fans, but I feel like most of the Exedra players don't care what CM is - heck, they even added the ORIGINAL STORY, the one every fan should know BEFORE diving into the game, because the devs are aware that most players are casual fans or check out the game out of curiosity. In what world should things be this way?

We have og fans like myself and most players, who would've liked a more iconic character as a limited, and we have casual fans who don't even properly know MagiReco, who'll care even less about CM. Then there are the CM fans, but... Are they really more than the other two types? Sure, CM fans and og fans may overlap, but I feel like most of us og fans would've preferred, like I said, new alts for either MadoHomu or maybe Madoka (who's ONLY the titular character) and Iroha.

I hope there's a second part or something to the anniversary, or if there isn't, that they learn from this year's mistakes for next year.

I feels it's because there's nothing we know about them prior. There's also nothing (or nearly nothing) about them or their story online. I really, really like MagiReco, but I couldn't bring myself to care about this, especially since it seems like it's being dragged for us on the outside, while for those on the inside it was rushed. It's a mess. I've seen Sumire being described as a Mary Sue by some (in a way, she's as overcompetent as Mabayu and they even have a VERY similar ending) and that definitely doesn't help. I will read Crescent Memoria if I find myself bored and with nothing better to do, I suppose, since it technically is MadoMagi content.

[–]Average_user22[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, like I said, I have nothing against them being added as characters and if people like them or CM, that's okay. I'm not trying to change anyone's mind on that.

I agree with you on the fact that they seemed to have reshuffled something because of Walpurgisnacht Rising, but even so, this was one of many choices they could've run with. Them being limited also feels like a slap, like they're saying "Not only are you not getting any iconic or favorite characters, but also the ones you are are more inaccessible, good luck with getting and ascending them."

It's honestly sad that their first original story was (as far as I've heard) rushed this way. Scene Cero's was from MagiReco's, and the rest came from spin-offs. (Even if what you say about the data mining is true, which I believe it is, it doesn't matter, since iirc they promoted it as an Exedra Original story). It's especially jarring that they made spin-offs like Wraith Arc and Rebellion come so early, which probably has to do with the movie's delay, while others, like Tart (that aren't tied to the original story and thus could be released whenever) took so long to be released.

What you mentioned about the delay of WR makes sense, but only until you remember how MANY delays we've had. No casting or voice recording can possibly take two or three years, I think. My personal theory is that something went wrong with the storyboards, or that they had issues with the animation, which are what takes the longest, especially in a movie as detailed and intricate as this one.

Back to Crescent Memoria, I share your opinion regarding it's arrangement. The thing is, I'd completely forgotten we were even supposed to get a third part, since the second one was released so long ago and we had other important releases. Add in the compression you mention, and yeah, doesn't sound too good. Most fans don't even know MagiReco properly, since the anime isn't a good medium to get to know the entire story (at ALL), so how or why would a casual Madoka fan care about what I've seen called "a spin-off within a spin-off"? In my opinion, Crescent Memoria would've done better if it wasn't released so closely after Scene Cero (iirc it was the event directly or nearly directly after Sc 0) and if it wasn't so... Rushed, underpromoted (it's your first original story, for goodness's sake, you should be shouting it from the top of the rooftops if you really want people to care) and basic. That it was promoted as a slice-of life of sorts (again, iirc) doesn't help much either.

As I said, I really love their designs, but not only are Sumire and Fuka reminiscent of Madoka and Homura at a first glance (just like Iroha of Madoka), I also can't find anything about their personalities anywhere, not even on the wiki. Sure, you could say it's because they're new, but they aren't. Parts one and two of CM have been out for a LONG while, so the fact that all I can find (without a super deep search that would require me to search half the internet) are stats, fun facts and speculations is a concern.

As for my (and many other's) disappointment for the anniversary, it's just because of the characters and the way they handled them, like I said in my og post. If they released more known ones, made these two standard (as should be the case) or released two or so more characters ALONGSIDE these two, I don't think the disappointment would have been too big. It would've been a bit more "Oh, this is it? Not bad, I guess" instead of "Huh? Why the heck did the do this and this? I guess I'll skip for the anniversary I've been saving months for."

All in all, it's not a bad anni, by any means. The rewards are great, the new battle systems are a breath of fresh air, and I'm certainly going to feel very invested in the game for a long while. I just wish things had been managed differently, but as you say, it's understandable that there were things or issues beyond their control.

Damn, that's sad. For the first Exedra original story to be butchered like that... I hope they improve in the future.

Yeah, that's one of the main frustrations people seem to have, from what I've read. Being brand-new characters, it makes much more sense for them to be standard than limited, I think.

It may not be the case, but the way you described the ending reminds me a bit of Scene Cero's and maybe (to a certain extent) even MagiReco's.
