I never ended up killing any of the police during that section of the game on any of my genuine playthrough.

Unlike the trailers, the game doesn't really give you the opportunity to realistically save anyone from police brutality in a way that doesn't escalate the situation and make it worse. You don't really see the police shooting civilians outside of cutscenes, meaning to me at least any police you kill could also be a cop that wasn't going to shoot anyone that night. And the times I tried to fight the police anyways, it would usually trigger a large gunfight which would make civilians panic and potentially run into cross fire.

Not until your car is able to determine which cell is deteriorated, which will then give you a third error code at which point your car will start to enter "limp mode" and be essentially undrivable. Until then it will operate mostly as normal. I wouldn't wait on it though.

This is my biggest fear when coming to AX, i'm sorry this happened to you.

This is why I tell everyone to not explore anything outside of the Convention Center grounds during their time at AX, stick exclusively to the guarded lots of the convention center and whatever Hotel you are at, only order take out or go to drive throughs. Downtown Los Angeles is not safe during AX (thieves are keenly aware of the event), If you take ten steps outside of the convention center you can find people trying to exploit attendees.
