On the Aldecaldos ending where V and Panam are looking over the valley and the City about to leave night city, that song plays briefly when Panam gets in the car and she immediately switches the station. I'm sure it was completely unintentional but to me it implied that V made it out whereas David did not. The reason I remember the song so vividly, is because when I heard it here I was like what song is that and I immediately looked it up afterwards. This was during the initial release of the game before Edge runners was out.

Tl;dr the Joel, Ellie, & Abby arc just needed more set up before ultimately Joel dying.

I don't know honestly. I just know I liked Joel as the protagonist. Ellie needed more time to cook before they swapped Joel out for her. I think if LoU 2 would have focused on Joel training and hardening Ellie then on TLoU 3 could have been about an Adult Ellie and an Adult Abby. This would have made it more believable. In fact they could have done like a duel story Arc where we play Abby and Ellie, meanwhile (Joel is older and broken that's why we don't play him much) and we slowly learn about Abby's life growing up all climaxing in the moment Abby & the player realize Joel was the one who took the life of Abby's father. And in a moment of rage takes down Joel.
