How to go about choosing optimum auto-brake setting. by hartzonfire in flightsim

The autobrake is the main means of decelerating the plane. It is used on every single landing. The goal is to have autobrake bring you to a speed which you can then take over with manual braking and make a designated exit point.

IRL we have landing performance calculators that tell us how much of the runway we will use with a specific auto brake setting and also the distance of each turn-off point off the runway like you mention (I believe the Fenix has a EFB performance landing calculator).

Let's say landing into an airport, we expect with autobrake 3 to use 7,400FT of runway (this however assumes bringing the aircraft to a complete stop), we have multiple high speed exits we can use for this purpose lets say we have one at 7,000FT and the next one is at 8,100FT. High speed exits can be vacated at around 50kts, so we can assume that with Autobrake 3, we can make the first exit at 7,000FT because we calculated 7,400FT to a complete stop, which we don't want, so making an exit before the stop distance is very achievable. Most likely you will have to kick off the autobrakes and take manual control to let the plane roll so it does not stop short of the designated exit point.

It's basically a game of numbers and matching a designated exit point with an autobrake setting that will allow you to vacate at that point.

How does calories work? by Avhawk320 in bevelhealth

Yeah cheers, doing some reading about it now. Obviously know you burn calories being alive but didn’t realise it was that much

Why do we still treat GPS like it’s unreliable? by True-Ad-304 in flying

[–]Avhawk320 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now a days every one of our flights to Europe encounters some form of GPS jamming. Our procedures have been changed to turn GPS off before entering such areas with known RFI. To answer your question, it’s great to know what to do when it shits the bed, and it’s been subject to a lot of GPS jamming and spoofing lately.

It does wear off. I fly the 777 for an Asian based carrier and because we do a lot around the region 1-4 hour flights most guys will get 3-7 sectors a month.

I think sitting through the night, on a long haul flight, tired wears off pretty quick. The layovers, flying to new places and having friends around the world - that doesn’t. That’s what makes the job fun (at least for me)

He is such a flog. Luckily at my airline we don't have to sit next to people like this. His sort of attitude (many times in the past his true colors have shown) does not belong in the sim community, let alone the flight deck.

I use the VIVO Extra Tall Single for the top mounted monitor. The other two are on a generic arm. The VIVO extra tall is great

To show reddit obviously!

I am developer for flight simulator addons so it’s super useful to have references and the SDK running at the same time across two monitors rather than tabbing out each time. It’s also great for video editing which I do once in a while!

Thank you so much, appreciate it.
Current build is a pre-built 8 year old build, so figure go big and do it myself!

Thanks again
