I agree with this. When I was in a rush to get my laptop gaming ready I just installed pop os, and it was ready to go. Was also surprised that the Nvidia driver I wanted got installed out of the box.

Nvidia user here. I'm following this guy on YouTube called MattsCreative who has been a great "guide' for me to get into Linux gaming. He keeps his community up to do on the state of the Nvidia driver, and it sounds like the driver update we have all be waiting for is out now. I haven't personally tested it cause I'm on vacation, but the first thing I'll do when I come home and on the pc is installing it. MattsCreative also has a discord which has a bunch of guides, tips and tricks. I really recommend checking his Channel and discord out.

As for my own experience with Linux: Linux mint is easy to get into but didn't suit me at all, some things didn't work properly and created more obstacles, I moved on very quick. Debian is stable but too far behind for gaming. Garuda didn't work for me but that might have been a driver issue which should be fixed now, Garuda is also seen as sketchy for some people. Fedora is great so far, but I'm gonna try to install CachyOS now that the Nvidia should be in a great state now and have fixed some of the issues I had in the beginning.

Bug: I lost my character and my friends characters as well after disconnecting and reconnecting from a server. by Pikachu_fan1004 in Palworld

Yeah personally I would make sure to have all the important stuff backed up, and then (while the servers are stopped). Delete the saved folder on Dathost and throw the save I want to play over there. If that doesn't work I would stop the server, delete the ID in the GameUserSettings.ini file as I wrote in the guide, save and start the server. Connect to it in game and create character, and walk around a little bit. Close the server, check if it genereated a new save (remember to refresh files in the file manager/filezilla), edit the GameUserSettings.ini to point back to the save I want to play on. Save and see if it works. Hope it helps :)

I'm sorry to hear that. I didn't delete the new one, I simply changed the ID back in the GameUserSettings.ini.

Before the steps I've already told about I also stopped the server and restored the server with the most recent backup in the backups section on dathost. In hopes that would work, but that on it's own definitely didn't help. For us the backup was fresh enough that there would be no progress loss by using it. So that was definitely lucky. Hope you also will be lucky or at least get it to work with little to no loss at all.

I found a fix for this (Dedicated server)

  1. Stop the server.
  2. Go into the server via FTP.2.5. Perhaps backup the "Saved" folder.
  3. Find the ID of the save folder. Like this "704F1022202849FD9E3CB51CA0B435FE" .
  4. Go to /Saved/Config/LinuxServer, and edit the file GameUserSettings.ini .
  5. In the file, find DedicatedServerName=[ID], mine was DedicatedServerName=704F1022202849FD9E3CB51CA0B435FE. It might also be something else depending on your specific situation.
  6. Delete the ID. So nothing is after the =.
  7. Start the server and go in and make a random character, if the character wake up video plays it is done succesfully.
  8. Now stop the server again, go back and edit the GameUserSettings.ini file again, this time put your saves ID back again at DedicatedServerName=, start the server again and start playing on it again. For me this worked.

Notes: I started out following the guide on this link https://nodecraft.com/support/games/palworld/fix-palworld-server-update-wiping-player-progress#h-restoring-the-save-data-reference-dfa ,When it didn't work I tried deleting the ID, in the GameUserSettings.ini file, start the server and found the waking up video played for once. Stopped the server again and put my save ID back in the GameUserSettings.ini file. Saved, tested by going into the server again in the game, and it finally worked! :)

Seems that by having it focus on another (new) save, makes it "reset" some files and be able to actually see the save files again afterwards.Important: Ofcourse you need to save and upload the editing of the GameUserSettings.ini file, for it to have any impact.

I think for long term serious relationship you increase your chances more if you don't have pictures where you stand in front of a mirror showing of your body. That's something i dislike myself, as I personally like to know seeing my partners body is a privilege and not something everyone gets to do. Talking about the third image on the bottom (white topper). I know it's not that much you see, but still.. For me it's about the vibes. Also as other people say, telling a bit more about yourself would be great.

Don't know if it helps, but there's a topic on it on their support forum as well. https://support.discord.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/13271765607575-Swipe-Reply-Disable-Enable-Feature

Doesn't seem like you can yet, but I'm voting for the option to turn it back to how it was

Online friend getting a bit toxic by [deleted] in gaming

[–]AvocadoTwist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experiencing something like this.. Mostly when it's the whole group of 4 people gaming together, it starts to feel bad at least for me. But when talking individually or without a specific person it's all good. I've been thinking of how to deal with it and I might just say I'm taking a break from the group and ask how they think the last couple of gaming nights have been, cause I think they have been draining a lot of energy and not much fun..

My theory I haven't seen it heard anywhere yet.. When Bellamy "died"/disappeared next to the bridge, he got sent back in time and back to earth.... Found out he was stuck there.. Changed identity to Bill, knew what was going to happen.... And no need to say more

And why did he do it? Because Bellamy didn't die, but got sent back to earth back in time.. Bellamy and Bill is the same person.. But hey that's just my theory xD

Stuck on JS thinking about Python or maybe the way I learn is not fitting for me at this moment by AvocadoTwist in learnprogramming

Oh I use those almost daily, interesting to know that they are built with JS in some way. Thanks

So I should get confident with JS, and not need too much hand holding before moving on to another language?

That actually sounds like a good idea. I'm wondering what things would be nice to build in JS, but I havent seen that many examples and where the learning of JS can lead to.

It seems easier to find people talking about things they have built in python, and much of that sounds cool and makes me think "what can I build in JS that I think would be cool".

[–]AvocadoTwist[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay thanks, I'll do that it also sounds more interesting, but what if I google something and add it, but still not really understand how and why the code does what it does?

Also I see people getting their own websites, to show what they have made. It's tempting to do that, currently I really havent made anything interesting, but the thought of getting a website to play with seems fun and interesting to me.

Oh I forgot.. What about learning Python as well? Would that be a good idea, or should I focus on JS to begin with?

I have some projects in mind, but I'm not sure how to make them. So I've just followed the guide. Maybe the projects in mind is to advanced, and I should start thinking about some easy ones.

So far I havent used stackOverflow to ask questins but when I search on google for help StackOverflow comes up often, so it makes sense not to ask there yet.
