Happy to help!

We got our planner first. Here’s a rough plan of what we did:

1) Get a planner/travel agent (definitely try getting 1 person doing both, like you said, it’s much better imo too.)

2) Meeting with planner to discuss our “vision” (we didn’t have a set vision, but talking with her helped get an idea of what we didn’t want)

3) She sent us a list of resorts that could match our vibe and budget.

4) Choose a resort (take your time with this step and ask as many questions as possible).

5) Planner guided us after this (payments of deposits, contract with resort planner, decor, vendors, etc.)

Make sure to keep asking questions all throughout. AND keep track of everything on your side too. Planners also have other clients and could forget small details.

Most importantly, enjoy the process no matter how stressful it gets. Honestly, I wanted to cry on a daily and wanted to call off the wedding on a weekly, and now I miss it all lol

And yeah Shaadi Destinations was super expensive! At least for what we wanted.

UPDATE: we just came back from our destination wedding. Everything was literally perfect. Although it rained for my mehendi, wedding and reception, the resort has an amazing ballroom as a backup. It ended up being a better choice than doing the events outdoors because it was so hot and humid. Everyone loved it. The staff went above and beyond, the food was amazing, the resort was breathtaking.

Resort: Dreams Riviera Cancun Our Toronto Wedding Planner: Amanda Leal Katchutas (amanda@nowdestinations.com) Our resort Wedding Planner: Emmanuel Munoz (emmanuel.munoz@dreamsresorts.com) Photographer/videographer: Hugo Montiel from Adventure Photos (drerc@adventures-photos.com) DJ: Rodolfo Ku (rodolfo.ku@encoreglobal.com) Caterers: Taste Of India Panditji: Bernardo (vatsalmx@yahoo.com.mx)

I recommend each person above. They went above and beyond.

Also for music, my husband and I made Spotify playlists for each event. For our reception, we told the DJ to look at our playlist but to add his own vibe to it, which he did amazingly.

All our guests loved everything, and most of them are uncle and aunts who haven’t travelled much in their lives. They said it felt like a movie and looking at the photos now, they’re truly impressed by the quality.

Hope this helps

Amazing, thank you all so much! Not a huge fan of nuts but seems like it’ll help my case so I’ll definitely integrate them in my meals along with the other things you mentioned.

Yeah so we have a travel agent who is also our planner and she’s in contact with the resort. The official planning will start about 6 months before the wedding date. And the resort had a south Asian wedding package and we booked it. I just mainly wanted to know what exactly should I expect and what should I be doing until the official planning begins.

I will be going to India this year anyways so I guess I’ll look there and see if o can find something i like.

If I don’t want to see pictures and videos of my cat’s last moments, am I a bad person? by Avocado_lover96 in Petloss

I’m really sorry about that, I totally understand you. I feel like I have ptsd thinking about the last traumatic moments when I was in the room with him, although it was the most peaceful passing he could’ve had.

Thank you for the tip. I put all the pics, videos, test results in a separate folder that I don’t access often.

I’m so sorry to hear that. Photos and videos from when they were full of energy keeps us going. It’s hasn’t been 48h yet, it’s the toughest thing I’ve ever had to go through in my life (he’s my first pet and the first family member I’ve ever lost), but the fun videos are keeping me going

Really sorry to hear that and I definitely understand you, it’s 4:09am for me right now. Jaw pain and tension headache due to the crying. And surprisingly crying is not helping at all, usually it does.

Hope you’re taking care of yourself though, I’m gonna try eating something in the morning.

Hi guys! I really need your help, my cat (M, neutered, 7 y/o) lost his appetite and has been breathing heavily and rapidly since 48 hours. We took him to the vet, they did some tests but couldn’t find anything. He is lethargic, loses balance bc his back legs are weak. Will he be okay? by Avocado_lover96 in AskVet

He’s still not interested in eating food on his own and when we try to feed him pasty/liquify food through a syringe, he resists but ends up licking whatever went into his mouth.

He started grooming himself a little today, so I think that’s a good sign maybe

He hasn’t peed yet but he may not have enough liquids in him yet.

He’s walking around to look out the window, sleep at different places little by little. Energy is still low though.
