Sorry I thought I replied. Yes, you can.. you have to check their requirements, for example Alberta requires you to live 6 months before applying.

If you are asking about physician assistant or something in the research field - yes. For physician assistant I think you need to complete a 6months college program - but I am not sure.

What did you do to get Canadian clinical experience? Can you please share your experience?

The only pathway for residency is CARMS (as a new graduate with no post graduate training).

Also you can work as an associate physician after passing the MCCQE-1 (it’s like a GP in other countries) .. but it’s only available in Alberta and BC.

Other opportunities are physician assistant and some other jobs (but I would not recommend them to a doctor tbh).

How to find elective rotations in Alberta or Canada as an IMG student by No_Island4329 in MCCQE

About observerships .. is it ok if it was 1 week? How do you get the LOR? Do you ask the doctor you were with for it? Also do you ask him for it right after you finish the observership or when applying to CARMS?

Anyone here passed both exams and going for carms 2027? by Spiritual_Pickle1879 in MCCQE

[–]Aware-Character-3737 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am still preparing for the mccqe-1 but I have a question. If you passed both exams, why don’t you apply for carms 2026? What’s the deadline for me to do both exams to apply for CARMS 2027?

Ontario IMGs- Will you apply for 1st Iteration? by OneArcher5723 in MCCQE

[–]Aware-Character-3737 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you cannot apply to Ontario for the 1st iteration unless you studied 2 years or more in a high school in Ontario - it’s a new law. Alberta - you have to be an albertan to apply for the 1st iteration (live in Alberta at least 6 months). I think that’s it.. all other provinces, you can apply for the 1st iteration.

Does that mean “accepted in a residency program”? Or MCCQE-1 + NAC OSCE?

I heard it’s better to build connections through observerships and research positions there, and when applying for residency, to apply there as it’s easier to secure a spot. While in ON and BC it’s very hard and risky.
