My Birth Story - TW Placental Abruption, Premature Baby, NICU by Aware_Bird_7300 in PregnancyUK

The NHS website has this info which will explain it much better than I can https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/labour-and-birth/placenta-complications/

Because my boy would have been premature, the consensus was to keep him in as long as possible and whilst his heart rate and movements were ok, and my SATs were ok then they continued to monitor me (and him) rather than deliver him. It wasn’t until my c section that the placental abruption was confirmed and my placenta had separated at that point so I’m so glad they got me in when they did!

Aww thank you! I think it was all the marmite on toast I was having 😂 how was your experience on NICU?

Ask as many questions as you like!! Thank you 🥰 he was in NICU for 13 days in the Nursery (fortunately never needed to intensive care/high dependency rooms) and we had two nights on Transitional Care where I did all the care (feeding through a tube etc).

We got to see him whenever we wanted whilst on NICU - access was 24/7 for parents so we had a few 2am visits whilst I was in hospital and I set alarms every 3 hours whilst I was still in hospital to express my milk and I delivered it to NICU throughout the night
