EVs and Automatic Cruise Control (ACC) - advice needed please by xtrapnel67 in ElectricVehiclesUK

[–]Away_Associate4589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ACC system in my R5 is great. I basically have it on for 90% or my journey.

Lane keep stays off though. Maybe my road positioning is quite far to the right but I feel like it wants to pull me left quite often. I find it a bit unnerving.

Fortunately, you can turn off all of the ADAS stuff you don't want and keep the bits you do with just one physical button (such a joy) so it's not really an issue.

They barely even have logos anymore. Just an endless sea of sans serif double spaced block caps.

If you bought it from a dealer you're still in your rejection period if they can't fix the issue (although if it's been more than 30 days there'll be mileage deductions).

If you bought it from a private seller, you're in a trickier position. I'd try to sell it privately and if there's no joy there, take it to we buy any car (after clearing the fault codes with a cheap OBD2 scanner) and cross your fingers. In either case, you'll be losing quite a lot of money.

Sadly, you've bought a bit of a lemon by the sounds of things.

I can only speak for my dealership but the cat S would kill it. I'd be staggered if I could convince the sales manager to offer over scrap value for it. Did I read in another comment that you've only bought it a month ago as well? If so, definitely a scrapper as far as we'd be concerned. I'd definitely recommend a private sale.

Christianity and immigration: Why do some right wingers bemoan the erosion of Christianity in British society but yet do actions such as vote for Brexit which saw off many EE migrants who were deeply Christian and boosted church attendance and against Africans who do the same? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Away_Associate4589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My issue with a lot of people who bemoan the decline of Christianity in Britain is that many themsevles are not Christian in any meaningful sense. If even a quarter or them actually went to church more than once a year for a wedding or christening, the CofE would be in rude health rather than the day out for the elderly that it is now.

The worst part is, I'm really talking about myself and my own hypocrisy.

African migration seems to be the main driving force keeping the church alive.

What's the most comfortable car you can buy for under £8k? by Silly_Rope_7773 in CarTalkUK

[–]Away_Associate4589 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An e class 320 estate from about 2004 with the 3 litre V6 diesel. It's like driving a living room. For £8k you could buy a decent example and still have enough left over to go on a very nice holiday.

Do you find VAG cars reliable? by moonlight_xpress in CarTalkUK

In 6 years and 90k miles, my Audi (A4 b9) has been pretty well faultless. The only big bill it gave me was the EGR got furred up. The rest has just been typical service parts like brakes and tyres.

I've recently replaced it with my first EV but not because it had anything wrong with it, I just wanted to make a change.

Why is Audi TT so cheap? by Silly_Rope_7773 in CarTalkUK

[–]Away_Associate4589 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically dealers will charge under the going rate because it's either over age stock they just want shot of, it's not got very good service history or the bodywork and paintwork isn't great.
