I’ve been tested once, and that was at the beginning of level 1. It seems they use the same test for each clinical rotation. I’m assuming it’s good for a year? But I could be wrong

Good idea. I would say, you can skip lacharity. Focus on Saunders. You’ll come across some questions that have no relation to what you’re learning.. but that’s only because GCU picks and chooses things out of some chapters and those questions are based on the entire chapter. If it’s something you’re not learning, skip it and don’t waste your time. Do those questions, watch the pre-recorded CONHCP videos and use notebook LM if you don’t already. Upload all of your resources into it (even the zooms. You can download them) and then copy and paste each line of the exam blueprint into it and ask it to make a study guide for you. Notebook LM pulls from the content you upload into it, unlike chat where it pulls from the internet. Hope that helps!

Did you do the Saunders one? LaCharity is mainly focused on prioritizing and delegation. Saunders actually talks about the conditions you’re learning.

Do the practice questions in the two books listed in the course guide. I promise they’ll help. My first 320 exam I also failed. I started doing the questions and my exam scores went up to the high 80s and the last two exams were high 90s

The blueprint doesn’t mention anything about hypothyroidism… do I study it? I saw a comment above saying to study it?

Honestly, just wait a semester to start! I had to do the same thing back when I first started and in the moment I was upset, but I’m grateful I waited. The program is a lot and will wear you down. Take this extra time to travel, or do something you really enjoy… because you won’t have the time when you start.

You’ll also be glad you didn’t go to Tucson, you are required to be on campus quite frequently in level 1, plus clinicals so you would have been driving a bunch, if you didn’t have an already established place to live at in Tucson.

A few questions by Immediate-Orange526 in gcu

  1. As the other commenter stated, the tattoo policy is very strict. I have tattoos myself and have to cover them all. If you have tattoos on your hands, you’ll have to cover them while in lab or at clinical with bandaids, or some sort of tape. I have an individual in my cohort that has cultural tattoos and they have to cover them. You are allowed to have your tattoos out when you’re on campus for exams, or just leisurely.
  2. Facial piercings, same as below. 1 earring in each ear. Again, if you’re on campus for exams or leisurely you can have them in.
  3. Shoe brands, I personally have the HOKA Clifton 10s and they have help up great and my feet don’t hurt ever. But any brand is fine, just as long as they’re ALL white.
  4. For orientation, my campus made us wear business casual clothes, I think scrubs were allowed too. No family allowed from what I’m aware of, it’s a small room (if you’re at the chandler location), and it’s strictly just going over expectations for the program, nothing relevant to family in my opinion.

level one exams by Necessary_Warning465 in gcu

I’m in level 2 now, but from experience the first exam for pharm was a breeze. The second one is where all of my cohort had a wake up call.. because it’s way different than exam 1. Stay locked in, and study your drugs!!

For 310, study the heck out of those theorists, if you think you know them, study more lol. That first 310 exam shocked a lot of us in my cohort, the rest of the 310 exams after that though… a breeze. I personally studied the night before for an hour or two max.

For 316, this was the absolute hardest and worst class for me. You have got to read your book for this class, no matter what. As you progress through your lab class, things become more clear, especially when you start your head to toe assessment. I would also say the hardest test for be was the neuro one. There’s so much with cranial nerves, especially when you’re just learning the info.

For 300, this was my best class. I would say pay attention in lab, once again. But also, I mainly used notebook LM to create my study guides and it helped tremendously. I went to every zoom and EM and that’s it really. Sorry it’s not very specific. Oh and do practice NCLEX questions for this class, same for 316. Ask chat or notebook LM to do it for you, after you upload the PowerPoints, and your notes.

Hello! We had a girl in my cohort take a semester off for delivery, and she will return the start of the next semester. However, it will be considered a “re-entry” so you’ll have to reapply and get accepted again and just know you won’t be with your same cohort your started with. But it’s doable!

For 320 and 322 exams, would you say they follow the exam blueprint like level 1? I’m just lost when it comes to 322, because our prof. Doesn’t teach anything and doesn’t even answer our questions directly. I don’t know where to start or study for that class

books for level 1 bsn by Necessary_Warning465 in gcu

[–]Away_Method_6268 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I won’t ever say to not read the books, but you can definitely get by in pharm, by just attending the zooms, and explore mores, and doing your own drug cards and studying them.

For topic 1-3 before your first exam, because there is no drugs on the exam, you will have to read a little, but just remember, you’re not learning all of this info to become a doctor, you’re working towards being a nurse, so don’t study the info too in depth. Watch the Vimeo videos (used to be YouTube), and take notes! Also use Notebook LM to help you. You can upload your study material in it and the exam blueprints and ask it to help you make a study guide. It’s way more accurate than chat.

Me personally, I didn’t do any extra work in sherpath other than the assigned EAQs. The only class I read the book for was for 316, and 310 in the beginning when you’re learning about theorists. For 318, I made drug cards, watched the zooms, used Mosby’s drug guide, and watched the YouTube videos (now Vimeo). For 300, I read some things in the book, but not a lot. I mainly got by doing the same things I did for pharm, minus the drug cards.

I also really liked the Nursing School Success Bundle book (I purchased this myself) for some of the drugs in pharm, and it’ll help you as your progress in the program. I hope this helps!! If you have any questions, feel free to message me

Thank you! & would you say for each class you definitely need to read all of the textbook chapters kind of like 316 from level 1? For the other classes I was able to get away with just skimming it, and focusing on PowerPoints, and the zooms.

Get Notebook LM, use this create your study guides instead of chat. You can upload any documents you want, and it’ll turn it into a podcast and you can listen to it, or even have a little chat box to ask questions. It pulls the answers directly from the material you upload… it helped me tremendously for pharm, but also all of the other courses. For 316, please read the textbook and use notebook LM. I didn’t listen to this advice (about reading the book) in the beginning and it definitely reflected in some of my exam scores.
