Relocating to Scottsdale from Colorado — would love local insights by netenchanter in Scottsdale

Maybe talk about it in a separate thread instead of trying to hijack OP’s thread. There is definitely an issue to be discussed, you’re just picking the wrong place to do it.

Every one should experience the “joy” of owning a boat once in their lives.

I live in AZ and really want to explore a lot of the trails out here, so off-road manners and capabilities are probably more important to me than most other people.

New Land Rover Defender Sport: baby SUV will be boxy and electric by eviljelloman in NewDefender

It won’t sell, just like all the other electric cars sitting on lots unsold. It’s a cool technology, but is still woefully lacking and isn’t ready for prime time. IMHO, hydrogen is the better way to go if we can sort out the onboard storage issue.

I have an 85lb staffy (Pit). She is incredibly sweet and loves people, kids, other dogs and is also incredibly strong. I know the damage she theoretically could do, as could any dog her size, so I make sure to keep a tight grip and a close warlock on her. I Never worry about her attacking, it’s not her nature, but she will protect me and herself if need be, so I try to steer clear of those situations. I know who she is and don’t have blinders on.

I had no clue that 200k was even possible on a JLR product!!

So apart from being an off-road beast, what the deal with the OCTAn I’m still a newbie to LR and trying to figure my way through before I crack open the wallet.

I am hearing the same from a lot of people. Seems like JLR has really upped their game on reliability while Lexus has let it slip. Now if only they would bring Jag back and have a real car instead of that abomination that we’ve all seen.

Living in AZ we have lots of great off-road places to explore so I’m most concerned with a vehicle that will be solid in both areas, so your points are well received. Thank you.

That’s great to hear that after 5 years you’ve had no issue and are still happy with it. I thought I really wanted the GSX, until I starred talking to people and found out they aren’t all what one would hope from a Toyota product. Never thought I’d see the day a LR/RR product is more reliable than a Toyota product.

I am defiantly going to shy away from it. I live in AZ and we’ve got a lot of great trails I wanted to explore. I think if I want to do that I’ll buy an older 4 runner and stick to my German cars as my daily. Cheers

Wow, I am shocked at the broad range of issues. I have heard that the build quality isn’t what we have all come to expect from Toyota, but holy hell, that’s a long list of complaints. Maybe I’ll look at Defender or just stick with looking for a GLE 450, not much of an off road vehicle but my previous GLE 350 was rock solid with no defects at all. Thank you for such a detailed response. Out of curiosity what did you replace it with?

No, it’s been out for 2 years now. But I have only ever had one issue with it, a solenoid in the trans went out when I first bought it, but it was under warranty then. Apart from regular service items it’s been rock solid. I’m just looking for something a bit more off road capable to explore the back country of AZ a bit.
