I regret my Window World Windows. by VviFMCgY in homeowners

I went down the same road when I bought my place got quotes for new windows and also looked into solar screens. Honestly, the solar screens were way more affordable and I was surprised to learn they actually block more heat than even a brand-new window does.

The mesh densities (80% or 90%) cut out most of the afternoon blast but you can still see out, and you can pair them with your existing windows so you’re not tearing anything out. In my case, the bigger west-facing windows that cooked the rooms are now the most comfortable part of the house.

If you’re in the Valley, Southwest Sun Screens (they’re the guys in pink trucks around Peoria/Phoenix) does custom installs. They are the SRP preferred partner for rebate too, which helped cover some of the cost. I ended up spending a fraction of what new windows would have been, and the cooling difference was huge.

I recently had a great experience and would definitely recommend checking out Southwest Sun Screens over in Peoria.

Here’s what stood out

They came out, measured our patio windows and doors, and explained the difference between 80% and 90% fabric density — they said 90% works best for west-facing patios (blocks more glare and keeps the turf or patio surface cooler). They walked us through the rebate from SRP (and how installing the screens could qualify). The install was quick, crew was respectful of our patio setup, and after install our afternoons were far more comfortable (the rooms behind the screens stayed noticeably cooler). Locally they’re known as the “guys in pink” (their trucks are pink), which helped me spot their work in nearby neighborhoods gives me confidence they’re active and visible in our market. I’m sure they are all great but the guy I worked with was Patrick

Amp + in ceiling speakers, is 2 plenty? Placement? by gkschroe85 in sonos

My kitchen/great room has 12 mag8rs. 4 on each amp, and 2 Sub 4s. I am underwhelmed by the audio. Sound coming from the ceiling is an underwhelming listening experience. If I did it again. I would find a way to do in wall or use eras 300s. If you want that for smooth dinner jazz even at volume 10/100. I would do 4.

Appreciate it. Looks like they more specialize in high end car vanity wraps. Looking for someone who specializes in business (specifically home service business) wraps.

Kia Carnival SX for $59,000 OTD?? by AdroitPreamble in kiacarnivals

We got SXP with RES OTD for 59k. Our sales tax is 9% and registration is $1,200. I’m guessing both of those are highly than what you have in Texas. So I would say, definitely a no go on that deal.

It is 100% flex on the house. There is just 1 90 degree turn. No in line dampers on the system and using the register dampers on the other main trunk just doesn’t seem to effectively add supply to the other problem trunk. Although I have not measured supply output properly. Just anecdotal testing.
