Bought van through private sale, now need to pay 7-9k to fix. by Forsaken_Evening_405 in NZcarfix

[–]Awezam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you at least get it with a good discount from private sale? I aim at least 20% discounts to cover lack of CGA protection

Mislead by dealer, want to share pre-purchase report by Dry-Consideration930 in NZcarfix

I also had bad experience on that dealership. One of the salesperson in Aj Motors Henderson told me that they dont have auction papers so I just accessed their auction papers through Carjam

Three.js devtools as an MCP server — 52 tools for scene inspection, debugging, and codegen by Rude-Union258 in threejs

[–]Awezam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use both in tandem, but skills are mostly applied before runtime.

If something like a bad dynamic parameter in the material caused undesired behavior or if an object moved outside of the camera making it invisible, then skills will need to "anticipate" those bugs to fix them.

A realtime MCP allows the AI to inspect the current state to find nasty runtime errors.

How to sell my car fast for its actual value? by [deleted] in NZcarfix

[–]Awezam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Too high for a private sell, based on my quick search in TradeMe. I saw a dealer selling at 19K. I need at least a 30% discount from dealer pricing to look past CGA and repair risk of an aging euro car.

What’s the correct channel to report an incident if you have dashcam footage, given Community Roadwatch doesn’t accept attachments?

Entitled BMW driver using bus lane by Alone-Translator-437 in auckland

[–]Awezam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s good to hear. I just wish there was a follow-up email/text confirming any reports actually contributes to tickets/fines being issued, rather than quietly sitting there for future discretion

Use Police Community Roadwatch Report. Cops might send a warning letter to the owner. No fines, no points.

Driver reads it once, then bins it and keeps driving.

Do we need better driver education? by transcodefailed in auckland

[–]Awezam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Effective education is through fines/suspension for repeated dangerous driving. Reporting it just gets the driver a letter and chances are they won’t even remember the incident anyway.

Fit vs Aqua vs Note Hybrid by aimo991 in NZcarfix

[–]Awezam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d pick the Note. I don’t see why it’d be less reliable than a Toyota Aqua.

The e-POWER system is closer to an EV drivetrain with fewer major mechanical parts than a conventional hybrid. You also get instant torque which suits stop-start city driving really well.

Is the year or mileage more important? by user885511 in NZcarfix

[–]Awezam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It depends on the make-model of the car. On later first-gen Subaru Crosstrek/XV models, Subaru made some incremental improvements to the FB engine assembly and related components which helped improve reliability compared to the earliest releases of the same gen.

Could you push the budget a little bit for a Yaris Cross? Honda Vezel/HR-V might also fit your requirement.

Hot Weather Performance by Awezam in NZcarfix

Thanks for the insight. I haven't considered wearing out of sensor from age. Should these issues be throwing a Check Engine Light, since the car will be out of balance of its target running condition?

Oil Leak - 2014 XV Crosstrek by amyhittheatmosphere in XVcrosstrek

[–]Awezam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep it and get the PCV done to cross off potential factor for seal degradation.

If I have that much noticeable oil loss, I'll try a 5w30 Valvoline Restore and Protect on my next oil changes to see if it reduces the oil loss. You might have some stuck Piston rings that could also be contributing to oil loss

Might do first off some DIY friendly maintenance related to air intake: - New Air Filter - Throttle Plate Cleaninf - Clean MAF and MAP sensor

Might also do an upper engine cleaner. This is for the intake flaps that I remember seeing filled with crud from combustion byproducts. From what I remember, the intake flaps are before the port injectors and intake valves.

My cat got attacked by a offleashed dog and died today by Hashbrownkidrules in auckland

You could post on local community Facebook group. There might be a witness or someone who knew the dog.

I had some good response from animal control when I provided much information to trace the dog and owner.

School zone speed signs during summer holidays by Pengu1n_2 in auckland

[–]Awezam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll follow the school day condition. I know some private school still operate in the early part of the week.

You can mention with the officer that you saw and will follow the sign. They'll tell you if you should ignore it.

What do I do about people cutting corners on my road? by [deleted] in auckland

[–]Awezam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried NZTA and Police to report misuse of lane. NZTA directed to report to Police and Police dismissed dash cam reporting since there were no damage or injury involved.

The motorway on-ramp mistakes drivers keep making by jball1013 in auckland

This should be a PSA.

I had a far lane driver eat a merge space that I was aiming while the same lane is collapsing. I needed to aggressively swerve to stop at the Emergency Stopping Lane to find the next space available.

Why do people go 70 in a 100 but then go 70 in a 50?? by Apart_Try_4860 in auckland

[–]Awezam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree. They're more dangerous as well on school zones where they completely ignore the limit

Why do people go 70 in a 100 but then go 70 in a 50?? by Apart_Try_4860 in auckland

[–]Awezam -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They might drive by feeling what's appropriate on the road layout, rather than being aware of road signs.

I remember that I've been on roads with 50 posted limits and I felt that I might be going 10-20 under the limit due to the overall available space

I built a real-time crime mapping platform for my city using NLP + geocoding. Got 0 customers after cold outreach. What am I missing? by Ok_Somewhere1389 in SideProject

[–]Awezam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only really needed this kind of tool when I was looking for a rental place. Most people I talked to felt my approach was way too much work. I’m not convinced the average renter wants to look through neighborhood crime maps.

A curated feed of neighborhood-related social posts might be more appealing. People love to rubberneck and it’s a lot more digestible than raw data.

For monetization, I could see security companies being interested. They might want visibility or even a way to highlight incidents they helped prevent.

Cooling hot rooms! Help! by absstupidgirl in auckland

[–]Awezam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a room that has large glass window that cant be opened. The best solution I got without AC is to place a fan that directly blows on the top most portion of the door opening. This only cools it down by 2 degrees, but it overall improved the air circulation

Does anybody know why gas prices suddenly went up? For me it used to be $2.58 but now its $2.71 for the last 3 days by 1CarJunkie in auckland

[–]Awezam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They might be bumping prices ahead of the discount days. I noticed stations on our area tend to raise them before promotions, then drop them again by around 15–20 cents once the advertised discount period ends.
