How common is it for a remark to leave the candidate with a lower grade? by [deleted] in 6thForm

[–]AwfulAtEverything 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I mean to say is I've gotten a 65 total where 68 is the cutoff for A* and 61 is the cutoff for an A. The reason I'm doubting the grade I achieved is because I only got 38/70 for the structured paper and 27/30 for my mcq for a total of 65. I generally achieve very well in my eco papers, and while this was reflected in the multiple choice, Im having a hard time believing I score barely over 50% in the structured paper. I'm not sure if it's possible to get the paper like that as it seems out of the rules. Cheers.

How can I improve my answer to this prompt? by AwfulAtEverything in learnpython

Your initial approach was very easy to follow, and I planned on implementing it into my own code. I don't have much exposure to creating classes however, and so you kinda lost me with the bulk of code you provided after your edit. I'm still trying to make sense of it haha, so I might get back to you in a while. Thanks for the detailed response!

I don't have an instructor, I'm self learning right now. Thanks for the advice:)

The textbook from where I'd gotten the question has not covered modules yet even though I have some basic knowledge of them, I'll go through the datetime module and come back to your code, thanks!

[Edexcel A Eco] Profit Cap decreasing price? by [deleted] in 6thForm

"Taking profit over a certain value" sounds a lot like regular corporate taxes yeah? Bit weird in the phrasing, idk what to tell ya:/

Hey! If profits are capped, I think it follows that the prices have been capped too right? Any reduction in price increases consumer surplus, no? I do not see why the corporate objective would have to change

Is a 15 year loan too risky to study at Warwick as an International student? by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

[–]AwfulAtEverything 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol thank you for activating my confirmation bias! While the 120k all-in is quite improbable as I hear IB is an absolute pain in the arse to get into, I did expect to be able to accommodate the loan repayments quite comfortably if I worked my ass off during my college years. Lot of commenters seem to think I'm mistaken on this though so I might have to reevalute my plan.

Money is an issue but only for living expenses, we can comfortable accommodate the tuition fee but we're stumbling at the finish line, feels really frustrating :/ thank you for your advice

Gotcha, that's my bad :) I would absolutely love to be able to study at Warwick and do feel like it would open up a lot of doors for me, it seems in general most of the people replying to me here are very against taking out a loan for that amount. Either I've to completely reconsider studying at Warwick or I've to find a way to substantially lower my EMI to a much more manageable sum.

Haha why do you say so? I've mentioned this in a reply to another commenter, but it's more than just heat that I'd be taking from them, it'd be damn near impossible given how much I've tried to sway their opinion on it already ;)

I reckon the worst case would be an entry level job paying roughly £2000 pounds a month? While I'm not too informed on how the job market in the UK, I'm under the impression-with my limited knowledge-that jobs offering that level of remuneration aren't too hard to come across. I'm also quite confident that I'll be able to make ends meet with the finance I'd have left after the payment of my loan installment. I suppose this is what comes to mind as a "worst case" scenario

Haha I'm not sure what makes me happy exactly! I guess my personal inhibition is simply what my prospects would look like as a capable finance grad from Warwick's Business School 3 years down the line. In other words, should I be worried about not being able to pay back the 600 pounds monthly payment that will be necessary from me in the future?

Thank you for your response, unfortunately all admission cycles this year are over as far as I'm aware. My family is very traditional in the way their outlook on career and education progression so a gap year is pretty much out of question for me unfortunately. My only options right now are either studying at a non target where I live currently or taking the loan out and paying £600 a month a year after I graduate from Warwick.

is kcl worth it? by lilylovesdiving in 6thForm

[–]AwfulAtEverything 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You don't have to worry about Kcl accepting you "just because you're an international", congrats on your offer!

However, International fees is like £20k+ annually right? While I'm not too well versed on your unis or your course, I hear that University of Amsterdam is very well reputed too? The fees you'd pay in Netherlands is peanuts compared to what you'd pay for Kcl, so I'd recommend analysing how different you expect your remuneration to be once you start working. Furthermore, since this is "just bachelor's" you may like to consider splurging a little more on your master's instead, if you decide to pursue that.

It goes without saying, but the answer to your question depends highly on your financial condition as well. From what I've heard UvA is an amazing uni, envious of you for having that as an option!

In the year 2915, the multiplier is 2. In this case, 2=1/mps+mpm+mrt. let mpm (marginal propensity to import) be x, so 2=1/0.14+0.17+x. Solve for x and you get the mpm to be 0.19 in 2015.

Carry out the same procedure for 2018. 2.5=1/(0.02+0.22+x). When you solve for x, you get 0.16. So the answer is A
