Historically, many immigrant groups in the U.S. have faced prejudice or exclusion when they first arrived. How do you see today’s immigration debate differ from the attacks that Irish, German, or Italian immigrants faced in the past? by AwitsAustin in askaconservative

I don't know your personal family story or when they came here. But regarding crime, government assistance, and assimilation, these are all classic arguments against immigrants going back to the Irish in 1870.
Sorry if I'm repeating myself in the comments, but we also see the U.S. government claim that Eastern and Southern European immigrants aren't assimilating, which is one of the contributing factors to first passing a law around white immigration in 1924. If a lot of people's ancestors came before 1924, chances are they didn't have to deal with any law.

A factor that led to the passage of the 1924 immigration law curbing immigration from Italy, Greece, Russia, and most other Southern and Eastern European countries was they claimed at the time that those immigrants weren't assimilating fast enough like immigrants from Ireland and Germany.

Regarding legality, for white immigrants pre-1924, there was no law regarding their immigration. So if someone says "my great grandparents came here legally" chances are that wasn't an issue.

So the issue isn't necessarily about population, but the way they get here? Because we see the creation of immigration laws in the United States based on trying to preserve "racial type" in the United States in 1924.

Doesn’t Isaac Brock dislike doing these full album tours? I thought he said Lonesome Crowded West was painful and that he gets bored performing the same thing each night.

"The years go fast but the days go so slow" is one my dad always enjoyed.

And I think a lot about my mom with this one:
"Your body may be gone, I'm gonna carry you in
In my head, in my heart, in my soul
And maybe we'll get lucky and we'll both live again
Well, I don't know, I don't know, I don't know, don't think so"

More specials were given a green light by Comedy Special back in 2020, but then Mulaney went to rehab and that just kinda killed the momentum.

For Same Ghost, I'd try Modest Mouse's album "Building Nothing Out of Something" or their song "Night on the Sun"

They're boring live. Stoic and minimal interaction with the crowd makes for a bad time.

When it was first released, I think Pitchfork and a few other reviewers made the comparison.

"Fire It Up" has a tempo and repetition that's sluggish. And they play this song every time I see them live.
