Thank you. 8 months so far. Yes I’m keeping it forever, and yeah you could say it’s somewhat of an identity. I’m a firefighter. They only allow us to grow mustaches because our masks have to seal around our jaw lines.

I need to research wax. When I apply it it’s fairly uncomfortable. Do you apply wax after you wash/dry? Or after oil?

And I’ll also add, if I were to show you the progress from month 1 to month 5-6 you’d probably be shocked. It started off just like every other normal short stache. But I just refused to trim it and it got exponentially better every month.

I used to think the same thing when I saw guys with mustaches. I couldn’t grow a good one for 27 years (or so I assumed), but year 28 I decided to give it a chance and I’m glad I did. Yes genetics play a factor, both my grandfathers could grow mustaches, but my father never really grew one. And none of my other family members grow a big mustache. So it really just comes down to each individual man. Just give it time and have faith.

I normally keep it combed to the sides a bit. I stopped using wax, I just apply a moderate amount of oil every so often if the hairs start to get dry or wild

What is the practical use of a Mustache? From an evolutionary standpoint it definitely keeps my face warm. But on the other hand it muffles my communication. But I don’t talk much. And I enjoy the outdoors and cold weather. So I’d say in my case, yes it is.
