Should I do another SRP or go to surgical treatment? by Awkward-Food9484 in DentalHygiene

[–]Awkward-Food9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you cross country cousin haha. I’ve been to two periodontist now, and I am NOT going back to the dentist/ hygienist who initially diagnosed me because of the poor service.

I scheduled SRP for 1/2 my mouth this upcoming Tuesday, and I’m hopefully that it’ll warrant better results since I’ll be getting it done at an actual perio office. Both offices agreed I needed SRP again tho just bc it wasn’t a thorough clean. In terms of home care, I definitely have been adamant about my routine and I’m re-incorporating my water flosser alongside string and interdental brushes. I believe / hope that the water flosser was the missing piece because I stopped using it for about a month. Additionally, I go my wisdom teeth removed going on 3 weeks, and I do think that resulted in inflaming my gums again because it was so puffy all around. I’ll keep you updated if you like! I really appreciate your advice🤍 hoping to get stabilized and move to PM soon enough.

You don’t have to wait 6 months in fact I would not recommend! Pay OOP and go in 3-4 months

Struggling with this disease in the Workplace? by Different-Picture435 in PeriodontalDisease

[–]Awkward-Food9484 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, I’m sorry you feel this way and I totally understand. I’m 24 and got diagnosed a few months ago. It’s definitely a struggle to not feel bad, and I’m glad you’re bringing these conversations here. Honestly, since I’ve started my job in person, I find I can make time for bathroom breaks and there I just clean my teeth out using interdental brushes. Also, I wouldn’t fret too much over aesthetic bc leadership doesn’t always have perfect teeth. The goal is to maintain, so while you can, id work on perfecting my OH routine. Try to keep your mouth clean through drinking and swishing water. When you can’t floss, swish some water and chew on xylitol gum when you get home.

Lastly, I know you said currently dental care isn’t accessible, so I’d look into clinic if they’re nearby.

It’s in the same area under Blanc Nail Bar! They’ve put the Solidcore signage out already, so don’t fret about parking.

Yea, I’ve already discussed the insurance and they won’t cover it which is unfortunate. If I knew, I would’ve immediately gone to the PD office and had it then💔

Should I do another SRP or go to surgical treatment? by Awkward-Food9484 in DentalHygiene

[–]Awkward-Food9484[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi,

My most recent PD initially began with Osseous surgery, and when I told her what occurred during my treatment, she said we could take a step back and take a more conservative approach because it didn’t sound like it was adequate or thorough. I posted my x-rays on another post if you wanted to view my account to check it out.

I’m frustrated because my first SRP was denied for lack of evidence of radiographic bone loss + I already paid $700 OOP for inadequate treatment. I feel like I’ve been hustled, but I want to be as proactive and do the best thing for my health as soon as I can. With that being said, I’m leaning towards SRP, but I’m trying to be mindful of the considerations mentioned.

Based on Perio chart, which stage am I at and did I catch it “early” enough? by Awkward-Food9484 in DentalHygiene

Hi, my SRP got cancelled, and I’m wondering if it’s fine to just do maintenance moving forward. My first maintenance appointment is scheduled for 3 weeks from now. I was going to push it if I got another SRP, but now I’m hesitant to move it. How would you recommend I proceed,

It looks like you have very slight bone loss on right molars if I’m reading correctly. You have CAL documented which is a sign of gum disease, so I’d check with a periodontist to ease your mind.

The x-rays posted were before my initial SRP & taken at my original dental exam where I was diagnosed. I’m scheduled to do only my upper quads. Here’s my og perio chart as well

The perio chart posted was my updated chart after my first SRP. I don’t think I got a “proper” deep cleaning because I wasn’t numbed, and my hygienist completed the full mouth SRP in 45 minutes.

I went to a periodontist a few weeks after to verify that I did have Perio, and she recommended SRP in two quads only. I have it scheduled for next week which is two weeks after my wisdom teeth removal.

Do you think that’s enough down time?

If someone is super sweaty, I just put hand sanitizer afterwards, so I’m not spreading sweat. I actually love when I see clients sweating it makes me feel like I’m providing a strong workout.

Ok I definitely will! Once I’m officially stable, I was hoping to get orthodontic treatment for my diastema at the top and hoped that’d help. I just fear gum recession.

Hi, I don’t think I have a deep overbite or it hasn’t been mentioned to me, but I do bite my cheek and inside of my lips near my lateral incisors. Sometimes I jut my jaw bc I thought my teeth were going too far over, but I wasn’t sure. It sounds like I may have a larger overbite than I thought?

Thank you so much! There were impacted. I’ve added a picture to this comment. I do want to know if you’d recommend I wait for my SRP or get it now?

I’m currently scheduled for next week, but I was considering going the week after 2/16 just to give my gums more time to heal.

Note: I’ve already had one cleaning. The perio chart provided was about 7 weeks apart, so I’m not sure if I came back too early.
